KIRK: We're going to travel back in time to the 20th century so I can bang a hot lady scientist. SPOCK: And save Earth, Admiral. KIRK: Yeah yeah yeah that too.

I don't think our sun has enough mass to sling-shot through time. Obviously this is all science-fiction, but at the same time, it is true that our sun is far, far too small to ever collapse into a black hole. You'd think that if there was insufficient mass to overcome the speed-of-light, that it would be insufficient for time-slingshots, too... otherwise any ol' celestial body would be flinging light into the past.

This was pure fiction... now it's a reality. Gorilla Glass that's in our phones is glass with aluminum flakes to make it scratch resistant and stronger... it is transparent aluminum.

I wonder. When Voyager finally got home, Reginald Barclay would finally meet Tom Paris, face to face. Two big holodeck fans. What if Tom watched a holo of what Reginald went through to reach Voyager? And showed it to B'Ehlanna? If she'd watch TV for Tom, I'm pretty sure she'd watch this too. If Reginald didn't make one himself, I'm fairly certain one could easily be written, between Counselor Troi, Reginald's Boss and the security footage. I can imagine the crew of Voyager watching it together, cheering every time Reginald repeated "transmit the message." Voyager's grateful for Barclay's help, sure, but just how much would they understand about what happened on their behalf?

Scotty is supposed to be in a holodeck simulation of the bridge but when he looks at the forward screen (1:35) there is a hair attached to the upper left corner of the old film that moves around.

In the example Scotty gives, the volume of water has nothing to do with the pressure exerted on the area of of the plexiglass. It has to do with depth. No surprise writers are clueless about every other profession but theirs.

I loved how in the novel "Provenance of Shadows," after McCoy tells Data how "... she'll always bring you home," the thought crossed his mind, "Except that wasn't true for Jim, was it?" He was thinking about Kirk's supposed death on the Enterprise-B. Lovely way to see all the story be tied together like so.

Captain Picard: Q, what is going on? Q: I told you. You're dead. This is the afterlife. And I'm God. Captain Picard: You are not God! Q: Blasphemy! You're lucky I don't cast you out or smite you or something. The bottom line is, your life ended about five minutes ago, under the inept ministrations of Dr. Beverly Crusher. Captain Picard: No, I am not dead. Because I refuse to believe that the afterlife is run by you. The universe is not so badly designed. Q: Very well. If you really require more evidence of your post-mortem status, I guess I'll just have to provide you some.

What is amazing, is that in 2024 humanity is able to make sheets of artificial sapphire which are clear, and super strong out of, you guessed it, aluminum oxide. They are used for military aircraft canopies, as well as for the aperture of cameras which have to be especially rugged against scratches and particulate damage

"Its time for earth to stand on its own" sounds arrogant....its almost exactly what Captain Picard said to Q when Q told them about the dangers awaiting them. "We're ready" sounds naive and arrogant but it seems from Star Trek canon that instead of earth going forward recklessly that earth went forward in partnership with other planets. PS: The Federation is a misnomer. A Federation means that each member state has limited sovereignty and is subservient to the Federal Govt. In reality Star Trek often mentions that each planet still has full sovereignty and their union is for defence and trade which would make a Confederation not a Federation.

I think the writing was on the wall for rejecting Koss when T'Pol became addicted to a drug that opened her up to emotions and when he got the disease from mind melding. One shamed her to other Vulcans and the other meant that she might be rejected for being too emotional by her Vulcan husband while a human husband would hardly notice T'Pol has more emotions than other Vulcans. It might have also meant that she liked Tripps emotions more but I think this was unfair to Koss. After all it should have been Koss's choice to decide is T'Pol was no longer suitable for a relationship or if Koss would have adjusted.

@tomwheeler2012Күн бұрын
T'Pol was stupid to let Koss go. Koss was very handsome for a Vulcan and very kind. He would have made a good partner for her. As is typical of humans, we rebel against things we are forced into and then when the opportunity is lost they regret whether they made the right choice. In a culture of arranged marriages it also means that T'Pol would now be considered low-value and there won't be many men to find a mate. If you have aculture of arranged marriages then your not going to have a lot of singles bars.
