Live in cold climate Cleveland Ohio. 72 years old home. All mechanicals needed upgrades to 21st century standards. Had gas line removed from the property. New electrical service. Replaced gas furnaces with heat pumps. Even at -2 fahrenheit heat pump performed well. Today it's 85 degrees here. Heat pump working well. Has ability to get to temperature then downshift into very low power mode where it acts to dehumidify. Super quiet! We're 100% electric including two used EVs. Our May electric bill was $50, June was $82. House is more comfortable and the air is very clean. Cheap to operate. No brainer

I am not convinced that green gas is our saviour. Ground source heating, cooling, and storing thermal energy, upgraded with electric heat pumps.. that will be the flexible option. Also renovating for lower T heat, and buffering the final T, so peak demand is limited, and heat pumps can optimise when they run, to maximise utilisation of variable renewable electricity.

That's a pretty extensive (expensive?) system. In the UK we are only just starting. Typical! Wish us luck!

Is it possible to pump solar heat into a geothermal heat battery in the excess of 1000F? I'd like to turn the core of the moon into a liquid water heat battery. Or some kind of molten core of low melting point metal that is magnetic to maybe create a lunar magnetic field

Absolute nightmare with a Daikin outdoor unit on a light frame structure sound of a motor stopping and starting coming through the wall high pitched whistles and buzzing from indoor unit. No help only smart comments no where to turn to and sleep deprived all that stopped me from coming to the end of a rope was my son would be waiting at the school for me. Every installer should have a sound engineer to check complaints or even a device that records noise and vibration within the home and have solutions . I’m all for sustainable energy but it should not cost peace of mind. The consumer should not be sitting awake at 4 in the morning reading the likes of Vibroacoustics of Timber Frame Structures Excited by Structure Bourne Sound. It was said after installing it that could be a problem though it was easier make me the problem I have my unit completely turned off I’d rather have no heat no hot water than go through having the unit on . Unfortunately the sound of my neighbours unit gathers at the far corner of my house though I’m told that’s impossible too

I have a Heliotherm water to water heatpump installed since 2013. I live in Ireland near Dublin and I have an on going problem with my heatpump from the first year it was installed. There is no back up from anyone or interest in solving the problem. A part was ordered from the factory and still not arrived 6 weeks later. Anyone thinking of dealing with this company would be crazy. They sell you a product and just abandon you...
