Hey I visited your channel after watching your video and found your content very nice. But your video doesn't have enough views. I was wondering how the transition from public to home schooling went? Was it harder? Easier?
@jerilyn-ourhomeschooltable21 күн бұрын
@@lisah8162 I think homeschooling would have been a lot easier if my daughter hadn’t already been to preschool and pre-k at a private school prior to Kindergarten. She frequently would say I was doing things wrong because “that isn’t how my teacher did it” etc. For me, it took a couple years to get out of the public school teacher mindset of how things needed to look or be scheduled since I was a teacher before. I think if I had stayed home with her from the beginning the transition from early learning to school would have felt a lot more natural. Thanks for the question…I will add this to my list of future topics. 😊

Do you make a portfolio binder if so what do you put in it to keep every year
@jerilyn-ourhomeschooltable21 күн бұрын
@@StarKirtman My state doesn’t require a portfolio, but my daughter likes to look back at what she did in previous years. So she picks pages from each of her curriculums and we put it in a binder along with other things she did that year like dance recital programs or other memorabilia. 😀

Hello! From Oregon here! First year homeschooling. I do have questions for you! Do you know if we need to name our homeschool in the state of Oregon? I am not sure! And Do you know if a need to register my two little ones, 3 and 5? I called and they said yes to my 5 years old, but I read on the website that until they are 6. So I’m confused. Thank you!
@jerilyn-ourhomeschooltable22 күн бұрын
@@dulcelagos2623 Hi there! I love questions, thank you for asking them! We do not have to name our homeschool and you do not need to register until your child is 6 years old before September 1. oceanetwork.org/summary-homeschool-law/ This link goes to the Oregon Christian Home Educators Association website. I am specifically linking to the page that lists the requirements for Oregon. They even provide a form that you can fill out and send to your county ESD (Education Service District) which is who you register with. Most counties want you to use their form which asks a lot more questions than you legally have to provide, so OCEA recommends you use their form. You only register the one time (not every year like some states). I hope this helps! If you have any more questions, I am happy to help!
