Nice digs!! I dig in Indiana a couple times a year. I don't see a lot of videos or pages on Indiana bottles. I know I've found some cool ones in or from Indiana.

Hey Violet, thanks for checking out the channel! I would be interested in selling both bottles. Unfortunately both do have a little damage.🥹 I think I might have another salad dressing in my booth, I will have to check and confirm. I would need to send you some better photos to see if you’re still interested. Both will display nicely, but neither are perfect.

Henry Dieck (1872-1914) of Seymour IN - (1893ish? - 1914) Hutches not listed in SodasandBeer (maybe other Hutch books). Some have embossed D O C 86 = Dominec O Cunningham of the last successive generation of the Philadelphia Cunningham Glass Family (1880-1931). The 86 some would say refers to 1886 - but this is illogical as Henry only age 21 in 1893, starting his own soda water business. This is a bottle ID #86. It is 1879 that Hutchinson invented his Hitchinson stopper device for soda and mineral water bottles etc. So this fits into this period of hutches being (1879 - hard 1920 demise), and further closed into the (1893ish-1914) period. Henry Dieck buried in Seymour IN, age 41, single daughter offspring. His father is Anton and no other Henrys in family in the area, while other Dieckmeyers could have Henry or Heinrich, but none living in the Semour area that could account for any earlier Henry Dieck making earlier soda and mineral water bottle products. There is no mention of a Henry DIeck in the Druggist directories (1904-1914) - so he must have been a pure soda and mineral water bottling company in the area.

Thanks for the information John. He was solely a soda and water guy. Worked at different bottlers in the area as well from what I’ve read in our local papers.

Well you found a (salt- ?) glazed crock (what a crock !) - and now you also have a pot to (----) in !!! Don't say this dump hasn't been stingy !

It does appear to be a salt glazed, but it’s got some orange color to it as well, it’s not a uniform color.

Multiple Eddy & Eddy companies. One Ontario Eddy company started making matches in 1850s then got into the massive paper making mill busines. Another (est. 1953) Eddy of Yoakum TX makes packaged meats. A mason jar "cap" with Eddy Mfg Co in the (zinc?) lid fits the same time period (1890s - early 1900s) of the Eddy & Eddy Food Products jar (business location unknown) - same 1/2 pint, being sold online for $70 (!).

@@HoosierHistoryHunters Time to keep them buried - so they don't get air and heat shock - until being brought back to the vehicle and house for proper same temp washing and cleaning. Some of these bots are so thin-walled that it is a wonder they could even be under dirt and pressure for this longest of times without fracturing.

I’m pretty particular about it John.. I have been doing my best to keep everything low and covered. Making KZfaq videos makes that a little harder. But these bottles are coming from 7-8’ down, so I try everything I can to acclimate them. These jars are fairly thick, but for some reason, they are worse than most when it comes to flashing…

@@HoosierHistoryHunters I readjusted 26 open tabs on 2 servers down to 2 servicers with 14ish tabs and so far these dinks (and email blinks causing some disruptions) haven't mucked up yet. And pruning out the google and microsoft caches (YT cache history is not kept) and that might "temporarily" solve these issues.

I have my own embossed Dr. John's hamburger tonic. No matter what the label says - Guinness, smoked BBQ sauce, tomato puree/paste, garlic, oregano, salt, pepper. I definitely feel better after having that beer sauce tonic and a hamburger !

Thanks Rockhound. I was in the same boat before I found this site. Lots of late nights reading 120 year old newspapers, and some boots on the ground to find this one. Took me a year or better to pin it down. It’s sure paid off though. I wish I had started recording when we first got in there. There are so many great finds that went undocumented.

Hi I am just a Hoosier Girl living in a Kentucky world. I grew up in Merrillville but lived in the Indianapolis metro area for 40 years until I met and married my KY husband. If you ever come across any medicine bottles from J&J Brink and Sons Druggists from Fort Wayne I'd be interested. That was my great grandfather's business. He died in 1930. His father established the business. I found a bottle on Ebay 5-6 years ago, but I'd love to have a few more for my siblings. I just subscribed. We live on top of a hill in Louisville where there used to be log cabins. I'm sure there is treasure in bottles on top of this old hill. We have a few we've found on the surface but we are both over 70 and while we are healthy getting down and digging around isn't a regular part of our day!
