I see this video is a year old. Do/Have you had problems with your engine flooding due to you seemingly turning it on and off fairly quickly? Or perhaps you're warming it at idle for 15-20 minutes before revving/shutting off? I rev mine upto 5k+ and shut-off mid-rev while flat footing to try and exhaust as much as I can to keep my plugs from sogging.

@andrewcook3371 Жыл бұрын
If the reset didnt fix it, it might be a bushing, or ball joint issue. I assume that the car was sitting since the battery was unplugged. May need to be worked in a little bit.

I've tried this and it didn't change anything unfortunately. - still stiff steering right and pulls to the left. ( Wheels aligned ) Any clues on other fixes? I think there are other plug I can clean but are harder to get to.... might be the next step before a rack replacement.

This does not reset your power steering. This calibrates your DSC.... DSC is Dynamic Stability Control which is a different system. I don't run DSC on our race car, I do use power steering.
@andrewcook33712 жыл бұрын
Yes but if you disconnect your battery or anything where the power steering isnt working great this can help sometimes.

This is about Mazda 6 2009 ; ) but do you know if its possible to change steering torque sensor on the rack only? Or maby do some service on just that instead of change the whole rack? My steering is hard to right but easy to left. Thanks
@andrewcook33712 жыл бұрын
Sounds like an electrical problem, im pretty sure you can change the sensor by itself, but its kinda hard to get to without removing a bunch of stuff

@andrewcook33712 жыл бұрын
Short ram dont really work on these. The engine bay so hot that you just suck in really hot air. Even most cold air intakes will make you lose power. The only cold air intake that gives a power increase is the aem or the mazdaspeed which are the same thing.

Great video, thanks for awesome info... After cleaning the 2 bottom tray connections with silicon spray, my 2005 RX8 Power Steering still malfunctions. Though a bit stiff, I can still drive. Does anyone know if I will damage PS if I drive with faulty PS ? Thanks everyone and blessing!
@andrewcook33712 жыл бұрын
I dont think it should damage the power steering components or just steering components, most cars are made to be able to drive without power steering in the event of an emergency.

Quick question in so I'm doing a swap on my RX-8, and when I bought the car the guy never gave me the key. When you turn the key on to the second position for the lights to turn on in the car does your power steering turn on then? Would the key immobilizer keep it from coming on?? When I used to have a s2000 and you would just have to turn the key to Second ignition and you would have power to your steering.

@acemoto23192 жыл бұрын
Maybe use small plastic zip ties if plastic anchors are not replaced. Usually they keep hoses and wires from rattling and damaging moving parts.

if anyone ever needs this - if your steering wheel is kicking violently when you touch it the phases of the power cables are swapped! I have just finished converting my rx8 from right hand drive to left hand drive and for some reason RHD ones have the phases reversed!

Should be fine to drive without it for as long as you want, just an inconvenience. Most steering systems are designed to work without power steering in the event of an emergency.
