as of commenting this June 3rd 2024 the crossing portrayed in the video (1112 sylvan rd) and the line is out of service, the tracks were ripped up sometime in 2017 but the signals are still here and the businesses it once served is gone, it’s amazing that that csx unit is possibly the last one to ever use the line before it went out of service.

They recently change the crossing the into a mechanical bell.

There's simply no way I would ride this rail ride! The ground could be softened up or the rumbling sound could cause a collapse of a tunnel. There's too many variables against it, especially a matter of time!!😢😮

Wspaniała trasa kolejowa. Z pięknymi widokami. Jako Polak, jestem w podziwie konstrukcji, inżynierii Ś.P. pana Ernesta Malinowskiego. Te tunele, gdyby były projektowane dzisiaj, musiały by😂 spełniać zupełnie inne wymogi bezpieczeństwa. Typu wentylacje, oświetlenie. Ogromny szacunek dla p. Malinowski Brawo 🖐️🇵🇱🖐️🇵🇱

Superb video! Această linie ferată ar trebui să fie electrificată și folosită și pentru transportul regulat de pasageri!

I model the Central of Georgia in HO gauge. It's impossible to fine CofG coaches or any kind. Also cannot find an E-8 in the CofG livery for the "Nancy Hanks" or the "Man O War." The Central of Georgia was purchased by Southern Railways in 1963, and Southern was purchased by Norfolk Southern in 1982. Cheers from an ex-Georgian in eastern TN

Between these 6 years what a time it was to rail fan on the East Coast. I love high hoods and feel it will be a sad day when the only way you'll get to see them in action is on shortlines. Time can be so cruel to older locomotives.

Sandersville RR ruined Sandersville by running track down the middle of a residential street.
@gettinmine66043 ай бұрын
my mom is from the neighborhood and she remembers when they put the tracks there. She was told that the Sandersville RR offered the homeowners 40 something dollars to sign papers agreeing to let the RR put the tracks down Tybee St. She says that as far as she can remember, only three people signed the papers. She also said that one of the resident's son had his leg severed after falling off the train while trying to ride it(as what a lot of the kids did).

Fun fact: these C36-7's were actually the last Locomotives to be bought by the Missouri Pacific until their merger with Union Pacific in 1982, its great to see these beasts of the Mo-Pac getting second lives in europe, (it makes me really happy aswell considering my favorite railroad is the Missouri Pacific.)

Unfortunately, it looks like the end of the line for the Beech Mountain. Carter Roag closed the mine in summer 2023 and I heard the other day that most of the plant has already been removed. Unless someone else reopens the mine, it is likely the unique "submarine bridges" have seen their last revenue train. One can only hope this interesting short line has a future.
