Blame your county board first. The vilas county board could legalize them on all county roads. Legal in arbor vitae but not boulder junction...etc. That doesn't work. Truth be told we should be like all the states out west. All roads except the freeway are legal. Simplify it. Less laws the better.
@ROCKINRODNEY9 күн бұрын
Hi. I personally like your idea of simplifying. This is one of the reasons I have enjoyed riding out in SD. That would have to be done at the state level, and I think WI is a rural enough state that I don't think it would be a problem. Now the Vilas County board discussion... I go back-and-forth on my own thoughts when it comes to what I would do if I were in this position. My personal feeling is, I'd like to see more county-by-county uniformity, and the majority of counties around us have opened up most of their county highways. The problem is, this doesn't do anything for getting the town roads opened up in a town like Boulder Junction, and the state controls all of the forest around that area so we can't legally access the area trails either. Until there is a change in local leadership in Boulder, which requires someone to actually run against the town chair, I don't see any rapid changes on the horizon. And I really don't want to just ride county M. The next issue we have is Lac Du Flambeau and the tribe. They don't currently want it. At the request of the town, the county did open F many years ago, around 2014 I believe. The tribe brought in the BIA who threatened to not just wreak havoc over Vilas County riding opportunities, but also the surrounding counties naming disruption to ATV use in Iron county specifically. Not sure how they do this, but if I had to guess, it would probably be based on water rights. So it was retracted. Following that the tribe banned ATV use by their own people on tribal lands. So things went backwards there. For me, the more interesting Vilas town right now is Plum Lake. It recently held a referendum that showed solid support for ATV use in the town. So something positive should happen there. This will create some excellent connectors to St. Germain, Arbor Vitae, and Conover, and I hope opens some of the excellent state forest roads in the Star Lake area. This area is the more interesting piece of the Vilas puzzle than Boulder Junction. Thanks a lot for watching and commenting!

How much of the trip was actual trail vs side and county roads?
@ROCKINRODNEY11 күн бұрын
Hi Gideon. A lot of this ride is a mix of asphalt road between Arbor Vitae and St. Germain, and then dirt Vilas County forest roads between St. Germain and Eagle River. The area clubs are working with WI DNR to get more trails open between these locations, but it is definitely slow to come to fruition. Let me know if I can help with more info. Thanks a lot for watching and commenting!

Hi. I've got the exact same machine as you. I also happen to live in Iron River MI, and we also have a house in Land O' Lakes WI, not too far from you! I know Minocqua well, and a good family friend owns the Island Cafe there. I also use my machine for snow, but I do traveling emergency snow removal. For example, in the last few years, we've gone to Denver, Cleveland, Buffalo, Albany, Boston and several other places to help with snow removal on big storms.
@ROCKINRODNEYАй бұрын
Hi Jeff! That's awesome sir! Did you buy yours from Ryan in Kingsford, MI? I subbed to your channel and I'll be working through your videos. In the meantime, how are you liking your RX so far? I spend quite a bit of time around Land o Lakes. I help Landover ATV Club groom the ATV trails during the summer, and have documented alot of riding in that part of the county. I live streamed myself plowing in the truck 2 years ago just for something to do, and was surprised by the amount of interest I had. So last year I decided to add snow removal to my channel during my "off-season". I'm very curious to hear more about what you do! So you take your RX and storm chase and clear snow? Are you using a pusher? Blade? Inverted blower? It's funny that you mention that, because I was talking with some friends in Milwaukee this past winter ahead of their big snowstorms, and said that I should set up shop at their place and plow since we weren't getting snow up here. I was half serious, but wasn't sure how I'd set up and advertise that sort of thing. I'm glad you found my channel and chose to comment! I hope you'll come back and chat some more because I have many questions bouncing around and I enjoy learning from the experience of others. It would be a real treat to hear more about your setup and how you came to do this. In the meantime I'll catch you over on your channel!

@@ROCKINRODNEY Ironically, I DID buy from Ryan in Kingsford! I almost bought a TYM in Lando, but due to Ryan's persistence, I ended up with a Kioti! Yes, I do emergency snow removal for three different companies. I used to live in IL, and subcontracted through one for years. Then when I moved up here three years ago, I stopped doing snow removal full-time, because nobody salts up here, and that's where I actually profited the most, was in the salting after plowing. Long story, but yes, in the last three years I've been to Denver, Cheyenne, Cleveland, Buffalo, Albany, Boston, Chicago, and a few other cities that I forget at the moment. On the tractor I use an 8' push box and a snow/material bucket, depending on the snow when we arrive. If you decide to travel for snow, and subcontract, you'll be required to get a GL insurance policy as well as commercial auto policy if you use your truck as well. If you are leaning towards getting into it, I can definitely point you in the right direction if you'd like some help.
@ROCKINRODNEYАй бұрын
@JeffGeorgalas I bought a 6' Titan Implement box blade from Ryan 2 winters ago. He and I wound up talking about Kioti tractors many times after that. He ultimately recommended I deal with Swiderski because they're considerably closer to me. He was certainly very informative and I appreciated all of his help. I would have bought an 8 ft box blade from him this past fall if he'd have had one. That's such a cool thing Jeff! I'm definitely interested in knowing more, as well as picking your brain around other snow removal related things. What are you running for a pusher? If I do buy one, Boss is my front runner. I was going to buy one last year, but decided to try this Hiniker scoop plow instead. So far I really like the Hiniker.
@JeffGeorgalasАй бұрын
@@ROCKINRODNEY Boss makes a good push box. Very durable. But if you do go to a push box, I'd absolutely recommend one with a trip edge, not a rubber cutting edge. ESPECIALLY on a tractor. People don't realize how easy tractor loader arms are to tweak. In my opinion, Metal Pless and Arctic will give the best/cleanest scrape, reducing salt usage. They're also the most expensive. I use Boss V truck blades.
@ROCKINRODNEYАй бұрын
@@JeffGeorgalas this Hiniker has been my first experience with trip edges. So far I really like them. I feel like it's easier on our asphalt and where I catch turf. I also have Boss V plows for my truck, and those things will trash turf quick if you let them. Which pusher are you using? I like the Arctic. We have so much gravel parking lots and driveways up here I am not sure how they'd work on those. I'm subbed to a guy up I'm Maine who uses them occasionally on his Kubota M instead of his skidsteers when it's really deep, but says he hates it and needs an external cam to identify when the Arctic is correctly aligned on the tractor.

Hi Chris. I'd say I prefer the trail off of Croker/Deep Lake Rd that runs up to Buckatabon Creek to get between Eagle River and Conover. In Conover, I really enjoy taking trail 13 from TIN 713 up to Heart Lake Rd, taking a right onto Heart Lake Road, and following it till the trail splits off again to the right, and riding that until you get to the Runnels/45 intersection. Actually, it's the ride I took in this video, you'll find the gps track in the description: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i5uhaJOV1tSXh6c.htmlsi=4-a9_6BK9EtMnJT5 From Old 45, take a left onto Fire Lane and ride that till you get to Blong, then take a right onto Blong and ride that into Phelps.
