Are you working on anything else? I’ve come back to this video multiple times now just because it’s a fascinating watch. Went to your account to see what else you’ve been up to but there’s nothing.

I can’t wait until someone decides to try and optimize this further to save time, and then we have an entire speed-run community around this challenge. Have a success rate percentage threshold that has to be maintained to keep the runs legitimate, and just see how optimized this code could possibly be.

This doesn’t really make any sense… you wouldn’t know if you’re even in a battle, you wouldn’t know if you hit or misses, you wouldn’t know if you got a critical and won versus got hit and died… if you died you’re in a Pokémon center, if you won you’re out in the open… not to mention you don’t know when you won or loss. There are so many branching pathways, you have no idea if you should keep walking or press commands to select abilities. Without vision or sight, there’s too much you don’t know. It simply isn’t possible in real life. Watching your button inputs make no sense. When youre in a battle, youre clearly using more A and B presses, yet when youre not in a battle youre only using directional presses. You would have no way to know when or if youre in a battle... this is exactly what im saying. There's no way I would believe this video is legitamte or that this is possible or was actually done unless you post a video of you actually doing it on a stream with a blindfold on, not facing the screen, and wearing noise cancelling headphones... Like you talk about knowing a menu is open or that a pokemon fainted around 30 minutes into the video. You have no way whatsoever to know a pokemon died here and how to plan for this or not. You would have to plan for yourself losing every single battle or winning every single battle... and every permutation. All I take this video for is a theory craft of something theoretically possible with an emulator or TAS. Needless to say, I dont believe this is real or possible in the way you have presented it.

You’re missing the part where it is entirely possible. I don’t even think you watched the video, did you? And if you did watch the video, how in the hell did you come to this conclusion if it’s not for you being an actual fucking dumbass. The point of the video was that every input he does accounts for randomness. It’s a 250k+ inputs thats pain stakingly thought of to specifically give a guaranteed single outcome. Even through calculating against crits, stats and so on. Just please actually watch the video because it specifically explains EVERYTHING YOUVE JUST SAID in detail.

maybe a stupid question but if there is "two parallel universes", one where charmander is lvl 5 and the other where it is 6. Why not lose the fight on purpose? Wouldn't it be easier that way

i want this to become a meme speedrun where the actual speerun it self is pretty much just tapdance on keyboard but all the hardwork goes into the crafting of the run! like a speedrun not for speedrunners, but for the people who theorycraft the speedrunners runs!

I’ve been meaning to say this for a year, and I’ve held back, but I just need to get it out of my system. TAS. This is a TAS. A TASBot cannot see or hear, it just does a sequence of perfectly crafted inputs. You made a TAS. Congratulations.

Wow, how did I only now find this? Incredibly cool, the amount of time spent on this must've been insane. Well done!! (BTW, I agree with the title being a little misleading / clickbaity. DeArrow currently renames it to "Creating a series of inputs to beat Pokemon Fire Red with any RNG" which is much better IMO.)

I feel like this video could provide an elementary undetstamding of quantum superpositions. At the start, the Charmander is in a superposition of ⟨Won| + ⟨Lost|. The xp gain modifies the superposition without colapsing it. I'm not even remotely close to being an expert, but this is suprisingly close to my current understanding.

Idk if it's the same in Fire Red but i'm pretty sure in Emerald if you save and reload the game you can't encounter wild pokemon for the first 4 steps. Same as after you finish an encounter. So if that works the same here you can bypass the fast pidgy.
