What I think is the most wonderful thing about literary analysis is that there is no "the correct" or "the incorrect", no keywords that you have to involve in it. It's up to you from which perspective you look at the work; you can come to your own conclusions based on the content. And you can argue your point and disagree and learn and help learn. There's so much room for growth!

Fyodor spoiler :3 The entire decay of angels also has some white in their hair besides fyodor! Not sure what it means but maybe the fact he's probably older than the dinosaurs ☠️ Maybe it's supposed to symbolize js a pitch black hole in the way he's percieved because nobody knows shit about him / he's js scary Maybe it could be something like him being ""tainted""???? From having lived and seen that long (does that make sense?? I feel like nobody's gonna know what I mean) Or it's supposed to symbolize death and him js carrying it around with him at all times I think sigma's purple hair is like him being "created" unlike the rest of the characters, because his past only started 3 years ago and he's missing a chunk of his life (the white part being his life in the doa and the purple being his missing life)

And, No Longer Human is semi-autobiographical, some even say that it's a su¡c¡de letter, which makes everything worse. If Oba Yozo is in a way IRL Dazai Osamu then the fictional Dazai is also in a way the real one.

Engaging with books has significantly elevated my perspective on investing. True wealth isn't built through mere savings; financial freedom stems from strategic investments. I've learned that accumulating wealth hinges on making prudent investment decisions|

Books have also changed my perspective on investing. Understanding that real wealth is built through strategic investments rather than mere savings is crucial. Working with an adviser has pointed me in the right direction.

thank you so much for this video, it was truly insightful and well spoken! one thing about literary analysis that always made me think was whether authors/writers actually thought through the entirety of their work (the small details readers notice, the plot points to connect, etc.) i had always assumed everything was on purpose until i wrote my own works. as a writer (amateur), it turns out many of these interesting connection and details often materialized sub/unconsciously! of course some things remain thought-through and on purpose, but it’s so fascinating how our minds can plant these little details and connections.

I would highly recommend reading Dazai's other works. While I do think that No Longer Human no doubt has so much to Dazai's character, but I also feel that Dazai's other works have a say as well. Because the fact of the matter is that before that novel, the RL Dazai tried his best to write more positive and uplifting stories during a difficult time in history. He retold old Japanese fairytales and he related a lot of random stories of people interacting on the everyday in Japan despite the lead up to and midst and aftermath of a devastating war. I feel like THAT, more than anything, is why BSD Dazai tries so hard to be a better man. Yes, Oda influenced him, but I feel like Dazai (of any iteration) tries(d) very hard to put good out into the world. It's just that for one Dazai, historically speaking, his troubles and possibly worse nature (not to mention mental health and probably some identity crisis in the way of gender or even sexuality) dragged himself and others down. It's a tragedy. But I feel like it's important to see the sides that desperately tried to fight against that tragedy. THAT ALL SAID, loooovely video. Loved the analysis. And love how you approached everything in this with understanding and sensitivity. <3
@bluemoon.f4v13 күн бұрын
absolutely yes!! asagiri has done a particularly good job personifying all of dazai's works (which, despite their differences, are all just uniquely dazai) so i 100% agree! the flowers of buffoonery is a particularly good point to start at after reading nlh :3

I wish I had this video when I was in school. Very informative and concise. My country's education system is so behind and outdated. It's designed to make the student feel stupid. You can excel only if you're a rich or middle class kid whose parents afford to pay for additional private classes

Dazai having giving Atsushi the belt is funny to me, because it shows Atsushi’s emotions light-heartedly when the belt acts like a tail, just how Dazai can sometimes be a comedic menace. 😆

I did a lotta research on a bunch of the authors mentioned in bsd and I couldn’t help but smile when Dazai commented on that painting! At first, I was confused why the painting was there, but I do love these tiny little details!

When I rewatched BSD for the first time (I’ve watched it so many times since then-) I immediately noticed that Dazai had his hands in his pockets! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who’s thought about this, haha!
