I "know" Hengstberger because he's a Muay Thai legend and pioneer in my country/area. For his last hoorah as a fighter (before he retired, and this was way past his prime, physically shot, etc.) they (Ettl Brothers from Graz, they did a great job putting together a MMA promotion, but alas the fan base here just wasn't there) they flew in the Burmese (Myanmar) Champion in Lethwei. It's like Muay Thai, but from Burma/Myanmar, and a bit more rustic&brutal. Ie no gloves (sometimes hemp rope, sometimes bandages/gauze + tape, as was the case there). He did fairly well, scoring 2 knockdowns on the champ (Tway Ma Shaung, he's retired also, this was ~14 years ago), getting knocked down himself a couple or so times. Ultimately the fight ended prematurely (he lasted for two rounds, which is impressive considering he never fought Lethwei before, he fought against the best there is + he wasn't used to fighting without gloves) due to corner stoppage, because of multiple fractures to his hand & forearms. He received a lot of respect from Shaung for fighting as bravely as he did. This was what he did for extra pay days, moonlighting as pro boxer so up and coming future World Champions could build a record beating up on guys like him. Can't take much away from him, considering professional boxing wasn't even his actual vocation. Much more respect than for those Paul brother clowns and their freak shows.
