I got to go to Scotland about 5 years ago. I have not felt the warmth I felt since. My grandfather immigrated from Scotland in the early 1900s. And I have always been drawn to our history. He was of the Clan MacLean of Duart. On my Mom's side was the Clan Armstrong.

I am a 15 year old American who is 75% Irish and this music always makes me relax during St. Patrick’s Day as it is fun to listen to this at parades. Also I’m a huge fan of Noter Dame fighting Irish! 🇮🇪 ☘️

In the fifties the Scots Guards were revered in Malaya for having saved us from the brutal Japanese invaders. My father and I used to come out every night to watch the British army rehearse in the fields. That was a long long time ago.

I just freeze when I hear bagpipe melodies. I think the instrument is so awesome the way this piece of equipment is played. And the fact that the Scotts train the players from little children. That is a great amount of practice to achieve the level of proficiency that it takes to play this fine instrument and let us not forget the drummers and their awesome movements.

I love the pipes. My dad made me buy a practice chanter before he allowed me to buy a set. Once I played Scotland the brave he acquiesced. I played them in High School and he always wondered why I had this love for bagpipes. I would march in the forest of Colorado playing and even marched on the football field that I played on. I was always told I was of German and French descent but clearly I died on a battlefield in Scotland at some point, There is great mystery surrounding this music to this day.

I'm a bass drummer in a pipe band. It's interesting to see how differently bands will play a given number. For example, our drum salute shares some of the same elements as the one featured here, albeit in a different order, etc.
