I would like to add he was one of the greatest human beings I have ever met. Coming out after the Vietnam War and the bad taste it left in most Americans' mouths after hanging around him and his fellow pilots changed my whole perspective on the military. I found a newfound respect about the military because of him and his buddies he hung out with. He paid the altimate sacrifice. Pat, will never know how much influence he had on my life. A true leader of men.

The whole story has not been told about this great man. I knew him on a personal basis and after his death, it essenential destroyed his pregnant wife with their first child and his later to be sons life. He is one of the most awesome people I have ever met. His wife was my sister inlaw. He left an ever lasting impression on my life. When October rolls around, I still have a hard time surrounding his death. He should have been awarded the Congressional Medeal of Honor based on the story I was told by a Cornel at his funeral at Quantico. This man was a true American Hero.

12-23-23 What Christopher Newport University and Paul Trible did was visionary with racist motivation to acquire surrounding land in neighborhoods that coincidentally happened to be Black neighborhoods. But let’s not excuse the motivation of Old Dominion University to expand the footprint of their campus by utilizing the same tactics in the portion of Norfolk that was previously known as Atlantic City and Virginia Wesleyan University to a much lesser extent. The Right of Condemnation was used excessively without regards for the Quality of Life most frequently against residents of communities which coincidentally happen to be in Black neighborhoods. Someone close to me had a saying “Greedy People Vex Twice!” It’s not enough to say it but use the power of the vote to defeat it and remember it. When it comes to Land, it brings out the worse greediness. Always in the areas where yesterday people looked upon as Alabama trash until…….Pass time to “Push it back-Push it back-Waaaaaay BACK.

I want to share a deeply personal story, one that has caused immense pain and suffering to my family for generations. It's a story that was shrouded in mystery until recently, and I hope that by sharing it, you can understand the profound impact that Christopher Newport University has had on my family. My grandmother, a pillar of strength in our family, has never wavered in recounting the painful events that unfolded, events that seemed like an enigma for far too long. We, the Johnson family, have been on a quest for answers for many years, a journey that has been marked by relentless determination and perseverance. It has been a long and arduous road, one filled with sorrow, but also one filled with hope and the unwavering belief that someday, the truth would emerge. We stand here today, still alive and resilient, and we have witnessed the day when the truth has finally come to light. The pain and injustice inflicted upon our family are immeasurable. We never deserved to bear the burden of this injustice, and the repercussions have been felt by the children and grandchildren of the Johnson family for generations. Our lives could have taken a completely different trajectory, free from the anguish and suffering that have haunted us for so long. We call for reparative justice, not only for the Johnson family but for all families who have experienced similar injustices. We seek accountability and healing, not just for our past, but for a brighter and more equitable future. The wounds of the past may run deep, but the strength of our resolve and our collective voice can help us mend those wounds and create a better world for future generations. Let us not forget the pain and suffering that my family and countless others have endured, and let us work together to ensure that no one else has to bear the weight of such injustices. It is time for change, time for healing, and time for reparative justice. Thank you for listening and for your support in our quest for truth, accountability, and justice.

Today my granddaughter Natalee told us that she actually went up to you to meet you. You have no clue how happy that made me. Just in this first week I have seen such much joy and so much excitement to be at CNU. And she couldn’t wait to tell us she met you. I’m very proud of Natalee for wanting to welcome you. She had 8 universities to choose from. But when she got CNUs letter, she was so very excited. It was a no brainer, It’s exactly what she wanted. Welcome to you and your wife. I as a grandparent hope to meet you during family weekend. Congratulations and I hope you and your wife have a great first year. You’re already off to a fantastic start! Go Captains!💙⚓️💙
