Thanks for correcting me, I was wrong about the comment with Bently, I noticed that my comment has been taken negatively and would like to convey my position before any further misunderstandings are created. My disdain stems from my concern that the rise of opulence among Rinpoches may lead to the downfall of Tibetan Buddism. I may be wrong about this as it all comes from my own personal experience. The general notion I know is that the Rinpoches who lead Tibetan dharma will be disconnected from the people if they live in a bubble created by wealthy donors, followers & monks.

Yes, I’d agree with you if what you say is widespread, it will cause great harm to Buddha Dharma and in particular Tibetan Buddhism. I don’t know where you live. You can classify into two. There is Tibetan Buddhism in the free world and then of course Tibetan Buddhism in China and Tibet. In both regions, it is spreading quite fast primary because there is substance and value behind it. Regarding abuse that you mentioned, in the free world, it’s quite rare and once who have done have been disgraced and exposed. I can think of 3 recently that you can Google and find out. The reason the abuse is small is because, the highly respected leader Dalai Lama has been working tirelessly to ensure Tibetan Buddhism stays true and shown the world the exemplary conduct with wisdom and grace on the world stage for over 60 years. This doesn’t leave room for charlatans and abusers when top lama is so transparent and has high standing. If you are talking about the so called lamas conduct in China and Tibet, since it’s restricted, without much control and for sure I have heard of fake lamas out to swindle wealthy Chinese followers. You will have to ask the authorities there.
