I loved this podcast. I am a regular listener of the Holy Post Podcast and have been for about 7 or 8 years. It has helped keep me sane. I am going to get these books. This explains why I was rebuked some time ago when I told a fellow Christian how much I needed connection with Jesus each day. I am not a new believer. My desperation is for Him, not what He can or will do for me, and this statement upset this woman. I did not understand her reaction until just a few moments ago. I have been listening to D.T. Wright lectures after an interview by the Holy Post recently. He hits the nail on the head, and I so appreciate the perspectives expressed on this particular podcast with Skye Jethni. Thank you. Yes yes yes. Amen

This episode was really interesting, and it helped me become more firm in my faith. Especially the episode called 'When God doesn't fix the situation | Tramautic brain injury'. I have a suggestion for your next happy hour: Interview an autistic person who's a follower of Jesus to talk about their struggles and ways of overcoming it. As a black, female autistic person myself (who's also a Christian), it can be hard when it comes to accurately reading other people's social cues, maintaining or progressing a friendship, communicating the right amount of information, and more. Especially when I feel an obligation to share the gospel with people.

Oh Amen amen amen. This so inspired me. I've been contemplating Jesus asking us to take His yoke upon us and learn of Him; that is where we find rest for our souls, by allowing Him to do the heavy lifting as we walk side by side with Him, allowing Him to lead the way and trust in His Goodness, Wisdom, Faithfulness, Gentleness. We then lay side our own agendas and manipulations, to simply walk with Him. That is what the writer of Hebrews meant when he said there remained a rest for the people of God, and to strive to enter that rest, done by laying aside our own self centered hopes, dreams, and desires. Thank you for writing this book Skye, and for sharing it's insights with us today on this podcast.

Alright, I “bit the bullet.” Even though I’m far from a wealthy man, I just ordered “Practicing the Way” from Thriftbooks for $21.75, which is far more than I am usually willing to spend on a book. (At least, I got a $5.00 discount, something Thriftbooks is famous for.) But, after spending a couple of months listening to John Mark, I just HAD to HAVE this book! I’m sure it will be worth it! Blessings to all fans of JMC, and especially to all lovers of Jesus Himself! Amen!

My dear sister I am praying for you and your children- -- Cling to Jesus and Let Holy Spirit lead and guide you into ALL truth regarding your husband and who he truly is..... Put him in Gods hands and take time to be alone with God to process through the intense pain and cognitive dissonance you are going through.... DO NOT lean on your own understanding... Keep your eyes fully fixed on Jesus and Him alone.... He will lead you into the wilderness and a place of being alone, for the purpose of healing you...but HE will be by your side to walk through this season with you....Jesus will hold you up, He will watch over your children, He will walk this journey out with you..He will bring you into better promises... I am a witness to this,,, .I'll be praying for you along with many others <3 It is NOT God's will for you to be in a marriage with someone who has treated you so deceitfully and shamefully for years... You are Gods beloved daughter <3 Matthew 13:24-30 & John Chapter 15 - (Godly fruit- is the fruit of the Spirit.) let God prune away the people and things that He must---- He has called YOU to bear much fruit for His Glory in these last days...He has a great future and hope for you

Propositions making a Christian or living as a Christian making a Christian. Is not an either or, it is a both. Master and his emissary… the world is changing and is getting deeper, pushing past truth as is primary defining principle, to a balance adding the intrinsic nature of Beauty. A life that knows all the truth, but looks bland or stale; is only truly embodied when grounded in intrinsic beauty. The opposite is also true leading to vanity type of vanity.

To me this recent push for discipleship (or apprenticeship) seems like going backwards from the New to an Old Covenant mindset. The Old Covenant focused outwardly on what we are commanded to do or not do. The New Covenant focuses much more on knowing and believing our new identity in Christ and our inward transformation when our spirit, previously dead in sin is recreated in righteousness and true holiness. It’s interesting to note that the word disciple is not used at all after the book of Acts in any of Paul’s letters to the church. There were no Christians/Believers during Jesus earthly ministry, but there were plenty of disciples following lots of different Rabbis. Jesus was much more than just another Rabbi, just with way better life advice. Paul’s epistles focus instead on realizing that we’re Sons, not just learners or pupils (the definition of the word disciple). He wants us to understand that we’re to see God as our Father, and ourselves in Christ (one with Him), and made eternally righteous by His blood. To imply that a disciple is some kind of super or higher level Christian does nothing but glorify man and his efforts, not Christ and His finished work. The church is spending too much time trying to pull New Covenant truths from Jesus’ earthly ministry, a time when the New Covenant was not yet in effect, that we neglect everything He said after He died and rose again, revealed to and through the Apostle Paul. Much of what Jesus taught on earth was not for the New Testament church, and was instead meant to show us that we could never keep His perfect Law, causing us to despair and see our need for a Savior. Most churches teach much more from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John than from the actual New Testament epistles. I have to disagree with your assertion that just learning more from the Bible, or hearing more sermons won’t change you. That may be true if you’re hearing the wrong things taught, or misunderstanding what you’re reading in God’s Word (which unfortunately are both very common in the modern church). Hearing the Gospel preached absolutely causes change in believers’ lives. The reason you don’t see these results in the church today is because the majority of churches are not preaching the pure, New Covenant Gospel, without Old Covenant Law teaching mixed in, causing alot of confusion and frustration in the lives of believers. When the Law is preached, it stirs our sinful flesh and gives strength to sin (including that irritability with our family members you mentioned)(this is also the reason for the current lust/pornography problem many in the church are struggling with)(this is why there are more porn searches coming from the Bible Belt of the United States;the more sins like this are preached against, the more we will see them manifest in Christians’ lives). The more you hear the true Gospel of Grace preached, and the more you see Jesus in His Word, the more you’ll become like Him, changed from glory to glory, just by beholding Him. The old dead leaves of sin and self righteousness will just fall off, and in their place, the fruit of the spirit will grow, without our self effort (and often without our awareness, until we realize that those sins we always struggled so much with aren’t manifesting anymore). Often the results of spiritual growth and our ongoing sanctification are visible to others before we see them. When this happens in our lives (without our self effort), Jesus gets all the glory. When we feel like we had a part to play in our own spiritual growth, and our focus is even slightly on our own obedience, instead of Jesus’ obedience at the cross, we can easily become self righteous and judgmental of our fellow believers that are less mature, or are still having issues with the sins that we’ve already seen the victory over. True change that Jesus causes in us from the inside out by His Grace, simply by resting in and focusing on what He accomplished for us at the cross is often slower than the results we see when we try to do it ourselves, but it is the only true change that will last and will ultimately cause us to be truly thankful and give Him all the glory for all eternity for His mercy and grace toward us.

Tim Mavergeorge! Kidding? My marriage could have been redeemed in 5 minutes (actually, 5 seconds) if he (mr. phony therapist) had not been so full of bull and not acknowledged narcissism (takes one to know one) 2 kids lives were screwed. Horrifying. My ex gave him 90% of his referrals. I get it. We would still be together if he hadn't bullied me, catered to lies, and sucoomed to the gravy train. Please. Speaking of textbook! 100% textbook. You lose me at Tim Mavergeorge and Stewart Gagnon.

My husband experienced a TBI in 1984 during head-on collision on the German autobahn (no speed limit). The constant trial with the repercussions have been VERY challenging, to say the least. But my concern is his ability to come to Christ. He has finally stopped openly criticising/mocking my faith, but there is still tensions. I ask for prayer! 😊 thanks
