I noticed the exhaust is not vented outside. I assume no paint is coming through, and the fumes are minimal. Your thoughts are welcomed.

Thanks this is exactly what I was looking for. I’m not a plug builder but I do always find myself wanting to repaint and epoxy some of my plugs by the end of my striper season. Can you tell me which is your preferred epoxy to finish your plugs?

Thanks for thinking outside of the box. What problems were you having prior to finding the problem? I have a situation on my 4.3 that at random times while at running temperature, my engine will start to sputter and pop. Engine rpm drops, and boat slows down. It sounds like a cylinder detonating. Did you experience anything like this prior to dropping a valve seat?

@BBD40

no, it causes water to leak into the cylinders when the engine is shut down. It ruins valves and valve seats at a minimum. Usually worse before found. Exhaust risers need to be rebuilt/resealed every 3-5 years

Its still a significant amount of paint and fumes. More than you think it is. Ultimately, whatever room your in will have a nice dry layer of paint dust covering everything.

Cool setup. My only concern is the fumes of the paint passing through a fan that has a motor and could possibly ignite. It is something I heard a guy mention in another build and said fans that have the motor built on the outside of the fan is best. Any advice on this?

With my job, we work with .016 aluminum and stainless steel every day. Have access to breaks, pop rivets, and every other essential metal working tool for building the box. Might be a little shiny but I can put the smooth aluminum outside on the inside instead for a reflective surface. My question is, would this wash out what I'm trying to airbrush? I have to go outside right now to airbrush primers on my minis and it's a PIA. Till we move into a new location, I'm stuck airbrushing outside or in my tiny mancave room. I can build the box and get the foil tape for free. If the smooth metal surface is too reflective, I can paint it white. So all I'd need is the filter and the exhaust fan unit. Thanks for posting this design, my room is real small and the one window is right behind my paint side of my desk. I can't get to it to open it and close it to vent a hose out. Again, thanks for posting this, you're a life saver and it beats the heck out of paying well over $100 for some cheaply made chinese unit with bad instructions and parts that don't fit up or match.

I think a small box fan could work, but a bathroom exhaust fan comes with a sealed unit you only have to tape to the back of your booth. It also leaves you with a place to attach a ventilation hose to run fumes out the window.

@@TheMorsonFamily Ok so $16 for the fan and that leaves you $9 to get the filter, the boards and the tape. If you have literally none of these supplies lying around at home and you have to buy them all new this is not happening for $25.
