I'm not sure about using another adhesive. The beauty of starch is that it's easy to remove with just water. I haven't tried anything else.

Good question! No, I just tuck them up into the base of the wall mount. That way I can have them hardwired in the future, or sell them.

I do not think this can be called a hack, since you are using the sconce for exactly what it is, a sconce. Cute idea, tho.
@Amy804Sycamore

That's true. The hack is that it's wireless, but looks like a normal hardwired sconce.

Chalk paint would work for this, too. There would be many color options. My daughter painted a white wedding dress with blue chalk paint to make her daughter a cinderella dress costume. It was very soft and looked like it was originally blue instead of white. I have a plan to paint a wide stripe, then a narrower strip horizontally on the bottom of some. I bought several drop cloths very cheap. Hint for everyone..make sure before purchase that you verify the color and the smell. Dropcloths vary greatly even in the same size in the same store. Many are grayish, some are brownish, and some have a really bad smell that is hard to remove.

Good point about chalk paint as a dye. Just make sure to read up on the details about using it that way~

Nice work. However, please think about not incorrectly using verbs as nouns...i.e., "Give it a tighten." Tighten is a verb...an action word. It is not a noun. KZfaqrs really have adopted this bad habit. "Give it a press, " "Give it a clean"..."Give it a mix." etc. Just letting you know...otherwise, your video is very enjoyable. Thumbs up for your instructions.

how was the smell of the couch after dye ?
@Amy804Sycamore
@Amy804Sycamore Ай бұрын
The sofa had an old smell when I got it, but after spraying it with dye (hot water mixture), the smell isn't as strong as before. So, in this case, it smells better to me. Rit dye has an odor when boiling it, but it doesn't leave an odor on fabric in my few experiences.

I want to install a rail, but I only have baseboards - nothing at the ceiling. I've put so many nails in the wall of my office! My husband does not know. haha I don't know if I should put it along the ceiling with just enough room to attach the hardware or if I should put it 4-6 inches below the ceiling.

If you want the vintage appeal of a picture rail, maybe consider placing it at a similar height. I would personally bring it down some for visual purposes, but also because using several long pieces of chain can get spendy :)

What if it's dark and you'd like to go lighter? Everyone seems to the light to dark. My dining room chairs are a deep rose - I'd love them to be a slightly dark colour of blue. But I don't know the impact the underlying rose colour would have opon the painted colour.
@Amy804Sycamore
@Amy804Sycamore 2 ай бұрын
It's my understanding that you can't use a lighter Rit dye. Maybe there's a process that strips the fabric and then it can be dyed any color (like hair) but I don't know about that. Some people test an inconspicuous spot before possibly ruining the whole piece. Good luck to you!
