Your concerns about the transport of troops and not being able to do anything is justified. I am no expert, my understanding is that in modern warfare, the concept of infantry fighting vehicle is that the troops can quickly dismount and start fighting. In fact, the IFV acts as support to the troops when they dismount. The Soviets came up with this concept but was adopted by NATO forces. In some rules, notably Modern Spearhead, you base your infantry on the same stand as your IFV and the stats for combat factor in both the infantry and the weapon on the IFV.

Thank you. Porting that over to portable would probably make more sense, than just having the base sitting in the way.

@@Zikekiel I've heard the M113 and the earlier BTRs, like WWII halftracks, being called "battle taxis" where they move into a position, the troops get out, and then they back up to a safer position.
