Only fair. Wetlands: Slow water Store water Are transitional The presentation presents a reverse of wetland factors: Water is always the determinate factor Soils will often present redox Vegetation ‘CAN’ be a useful indicator. (The Community Concept is sadly overlooked, and connectivity is at best a dim conjecture)

genuinely interested, did this material go through a containment facility and testing before being redistributed along a public beach?

WARNING TO PEOPLE DRIVING TO ORTONA LOCK: YOU MIGHT BE TREATED LIKE A CRIMINAL. Despite being the subject of understandable intrigue, the lock is NOT set up as a tourist attraction. It is managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers, who obviously does not care about whether or not you have an enjoyable experience at the lock. If you arrive at the north side of the lock, you are confronted by several signs saying things like “GOVERNMENT VEHICLES ONLY” and “NO VEHICLES PAST THIS POINT” and “NO ENTRY” and there is NO clearly defined pedestrian path to the lock, or even signage indicating whether or how pedestrians can walk to the lock. However, there is a small unmarked parking area for visitors. Basically upon arrival, you question whether or not you’re even allowed to be there, and whether or not you’ve come to the right place. HOWEVER LET ME ASSURE YOU, YOU CAN ACCESS THE LOCK FROM THE NORTHERN SIDE. Despite the lack of friendly signage or pedestrian paths, you can walk onto the lock from the little car parking area. Don’t let anyone stop you! I would definitely recommend approaching from the northern side!!! (see below). I wasn’t sure whether I was allowed to approach the lock from the little parking area on the northern side, so I thought I would drive around to the south side (a half hour trip). HOWEVER, please note that on the southern side, there is a campground, and the people running it expect you to check in with them at the kiosk. There is often a long wait time to talk to the kiosk people (worse than a Burger King drive-through), which is maddening. Despite all the publicly available information saying that the lock is open until 4:30pm, THIS IS NOT THE CASE. There is a little old man employed by the US Army Corps of Engineers who drives around on his little golf cart, running the entire area like it’s his personal fiefdom. This man was INCREDIBLY RUDE to me and my wife, and he treated us like we were criminals or hoodlums. Instead of approaching us and politely speaking to us, he YELLED at us from about 50 feet away, asking who we were, where we had come from, and whether we were staying at the campground. At the time, my wife and I were watching a boat passing through the lock. However this little old man told us we had to leave immediately and he was closing the gate. It was 4pm!!! He couldn’t wait just a couple more minutes for us to watch the boat pass through the lock, even though I had literally come from a different country to see the Okeechobee waterway system. SO BE PREPARED TO DEAL WITH THIS PERSON if you visit the lock unfortunately. Even though we were there half an hour before the posted closing time, I had to come all the way back the next day, driving more than an hour from Okeechobee to get there. Overall, the lock itself is fantastic, and watching boats go through it is very enjoyable. However the US Army Corps of Engineers is determined to make the experience as unpleasant for you as they possibly can, as they do not understand that this is a tourist attraction; they think that it’s like Area 51 or Guantanamo Bay.

I live in Lehigh and never heard of this meeting. If I had I would have been there. Please do more promoting these things so more citizens are aware of it. Embarassing seeing how few people were there.

if you are doing alternative analysis to choose a location, it is recommended to review the business case and not just rely on the benefit-cost ratio, return on investment, payback period, internal rate of return, net present value. It can include the various features you presented in the video.

no need for business case based on business case and approved charter it's time to use not just alternative techniques but also other data analysis based on the scenario

The Army corps of engineers are the ones who interfered with the everglades natural water flow in the first place by putting up the levee's, now they are wasting more of our tax dollars with their failed efforts to restore the everglades! The "white man" is the worst invasive specie to ever set foot in the everglades and has caused more damage to the glades than any other..
