Filter on the bottom is a great idea. I have something similar and I have triple filtration. I used an old squirrel cage blower from my old AC air handling unit as a fan. I put a couple of 4" deep HEPA filter cartridges inside the box around the blower inlet. On the sides, I doubled the furnace-style filters. The inner furnace filters are something like MERV-13 (similar to what you've got) but sandwiched on top/in front of those are cheap non-pleated fiber filters. They do all the pre-filtering of the air, catch most of the big stuff and can be easily blown out and/or replaced when need relatively inexpensively. The blower moves a lot of air. It runs over the air mass in my 2-car garage in a matter of minutes. I ended up building a deflector for the outlet because it was blowing things off the bench across the shop!

That would be nice. I bet you get a lot of good air flow with that blower.

Level it up! Love the tour! Was looking forward to it. Thank you for doing monthly videos. It is a great frequency for me to keep up. Yeah change dust collection. Separating the chips and saving the filter for the particles. Chips that are curled and are annoying stuck in filter. I got 2hp Jet cyclone and love it. If I could hang it I would. Maybe scan for a used Oneida unit.

Fair enough. Not a lot of square footage of wall space but it does get those frequently used tools easy to access. Time will tell how it works out for me. Thanks for watching...

Nice... also if you had it blow IN, it would suck from only one side...... blowing out collects from the outside on 3 sides... so probably the best choice.

@levelupwoodworking

I'm sorry to hear you had to use your quick clot kit. There are over 30,000 "reported" table saw accidents per year. Believed to be much higher, and that's just with table saws. A quick clot kit is a good thing to have near by. Everyone should have one.
@Book-Gnome

@@levelupwoodworking It was actually a wood jointer combined with acute loss of focus aka stupidity. The result was 1/4 less thumb and a lot of swear words but surprisingly no pain, until I applied the quick clot which felt like holding a propane torch to my thumb for 1-2 minutes. Pro tip: DO NOT buy the cheapest product, read reviews and get the "no burn" stuff which costs more. :)

I am currently working on a unit similar to yours. I am placing the fan on 1 side blowing out so I can use it as a cooling fan and use the top as an additional work surface. I am using 20” and 14” filters stacked on the 3 sides so the finished top is at 36” to match all the other work surfaces in my garage. Using aluminum Channel to slide the filters in from the top on the inside of the frame. The top will hinge on one side to open to change the filters.

Love it. The hose does not get suction because of the opening. Could flip it around to get suction. Hose on right side of PVC pipe. Love that the area inside the box is reduced over a normal rectangle.

Thanks. If I was to do it over I would move the hose to the other side of the opening. It does get air flow but I agree it would be improved. Dust does not collect in that hose in it's current location which is great. Thanks for watching!

I had considered putting my planer on a slide out shelf. I wasn't confident even a heavy duty set of slides would hold up, but the wheels are a great idea. When i built a new assembly table, however, i had enough room to put it on a cart underneath.

I originally had my planer on a slide out shelf in my assembly table and used these slides from amazon. They are rated for 500 lbs. I was happy with the slides. The wheels are just added support which I got on a fire sale. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DKRSVQJ?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&tag=levelupwoodwo-20&linkId=d9aa013b6ff89b724b29c6759fa88b38&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl&th=1

Nice work reusing the glove and glue rack up on the wall. Cutting down the drill shelf to fit it looks great. Much sleeker looking now too. Noticed some vertical frames near the table saw that you made tool wall over there. Could only see those for a second. Hope you show those off a little and maybe talk about them. If you’re not bumping into the planer it is fine. Could always redo it after living with it a year. Looking forward to next video!

Very observant, aren't we. :) Yes, always making changes. If it doesn't work, change it again until it's right. Yes, those "vertical frames" are being built out. In a video a few months front now & in a shop tour. Will explain in full detail. Thanks for watching!
