The cool little combo with Gaia you can do is place a economic guide forward with a tower and your temple or barracks/ basically it’s a mini forward base with healing on all buildings and units on the lush plus 15 percent movement speed. FOB- forward Operational Base

Honestly I really doubted this build order being viable. 4:18 might seem passable from a legacy perspective but in Retold its trivial for Greek to 3:30 advance and have two very strong heroes and a powerful myth attacking whatever they want while Thor only has 1 berserk and 1 MAYBE 2 hersir that aren't even capable of combat until 50 seconds later with a desperate need to be building some military buildings. They'll have the scouting they need with the Kataskopos to know where to hit and there isn't much you can do. You don't get free towers and you don't have units you literally can't defend villagers on chickens or wood. Norse get strangled really fast if they're playing on the backfoot like that. That said I actually think this build is wild on Mediterranean. 3 dwarves is worth a little more than 6 to 7 'unharassable' fishing ships of income and it's an easy 2 dock 4:18 with armory upgrades which can quickly snowball in ship battles.

That play at 9:46 is one of my favorite things I've seen a player do in this game. Using the Caladria to basically keep the unit fenced-in and unable to kill the other unit was brilliant.

These two players seem to be in totally different leagues, Hagrit having such an overwhelming lead since the beginning, so there isn't much to conclude about the myth units or gods balance from this game. I think matches are more interesting between equally skilled players

So many bugs in the game. Every time I set up new tower center the villagers starting to come out with auto queue. And few minor stuff, but this was the most uncomfortable.

Very cool, I played a lot of Thor on the 1st day and found the extra dwarves to be a bit underwhelming. Protip: you can pre-que up armory upgrades so it'll upgrade them automatically whenever you have the resources for them.

I always thought Turma was a weak unit, but seeing this guy use them this effectively is pretty damn amazing.

If I play as Gaia, can I always build a guild early and research Pickaxe and Hand Axe on the land maps?

I think the Greek player was just chilling reading descriptions to learn the game as there was almost 0 micro from them looked almost like one of my games :P

Boit I love you long time. you are the most fun and knowledgeable AOM content creator/caster to watch. You should take a breather and think about ways to increase production value before the offical launch of Retold where we all hope your views will rocket.

This strat is probably better for some sort of Age 2 pressure timing, but how does this compare econ wise to just getting a 2nd town center early? Normally an early 2nd TC might not always be worth due to the increased food requirement for full 2 tc vill production, but with thor you can mix and match dwarves and gatherers depending on current resource balance.

Haven't had time to play in the stress test so far, and during the first beta weekend I only got to play for a few hours on sunday. AoM was *the* game of my childhood and I'm absolutely loving everything in Retold we're getting to see so far. Nice video and cool strategy with the armory as well as forward healing spring, I'll be sure to show it to my mom when Retold comes out (she loved playing Thor back in the day)

All the Norse Gods have strong direct bonuses in retold, and Thor is no exception. Odin has 10% gather from natural food sources as well as the great hall bonuses and Loki has a massive attack bonus. Given that this is his only real bonus I'd expect that you need to play into it, and as you point out the cheaper techs do pay for themselves quite nicely.

maybe i'm not used to your videos enough but i was losing my mind at around 6:20 when you were spamming builds and commands while explaining stuff it sounded like a shitpost with people talking over each other on discord

I always hated early Dwarven Mine builds as I like to keep it in reserve for later But then I see that you can recast it later for 60 Favour!
