I am not a huge hydrangea fan ( i am an odd duck) , but boy those look so much nicer than the natives that were in there.....Natives have a place in the garden but, in that bed, it was an awesome improvement to move them out. I have about 80-ish acres here in Massachusetts with a ton of wild( native) flower fields. The gardens are not messy like the fields. i love the fields, i just like the cultivated gardens better. My gardens are similar to yours, but i use more evergreens. otherwise we have very similar taste. lol.....but i cant stand roses. to much of a diva. i cannot possibly pay that much attention to one plant. I have one climbing rose and three wild roses. The climbing rose looks like yours. the Jap beetles did as number on it. I planted it last fall and regretted it by this june. Don't be embarrassed by the beds being unfinished. all in due time. I am glad you are getting help with it. but don't be afraid to show it. We ALL have those problems. Some years we have it all together and think we mastered the gardening thing, and the next year it takes a turn and it goes to hell in a hand basket. I was on an uptick this year, but now the septic has to be redone and it is going to get messy and i am going to have to remove a few substantial size apple trees and a magnolia.....UGh! If i could i would share a picture with you so you could feel better about your progress! :)

Good morning. Ur garden looks amazing despite our horrible weather…..I completely agree with you that gardening is getting more and more challenging each year. Besides the weather, I have to battle with wild animals , insects and diseases….Every day I tell myself : time to quit gardening , then I see some few plants trying to grow …Thanks for sharing your video and expressing your thoughts on this matter . Always enjoy watching ur videos and learning from u. ❤

It's been quite a summer so far. Here in Central PA we finally got a thunderstorm last night. Hope you get rain soon. I enjoy just looking at your plants, you have so many interesting ones. I took the new plants I hadn't yet planted and stuck them in a part shade area till it gets cooler or the fall whichever comes first! You have a very challenging property and I think you've done a wonderful job with it. Looking forward to the next video!
@therestlessgardener9287Ай бұрын
Thank you, that's is very kind! I hope we get rain, too. Every time they forecast it, it goes around us! Funny you should say my property is challenging; I had to chuckle while watching Garden Answer the other day. She was using her power auger and hit a few rare stones in her very easy to dig soil and was struggling. I said to myself "try gardening in Pa and let's see how you do!" ;)

Congratulations on your gorgeous gardens! I love your channel. We’re in Massachusetts (Cape Cod) so that auger won’t work for our rocky soil. I grew up in Philly so I immediately recognized your accent. Made me a bit homesick!
@therestlessgardener9287Ай бұрын
Oh, thanks so much!! Yes, the auger is only partly helpful; my husband gets truly irritated when he sees certain other channels using it so easily and I don't blame him!!! I spent time on the Cape as a kid; we had family in Plymouth for a time and one summer my parents sent us to summer camp in Sandwich, heaven!!!!

That's going to look great when it acclimates to it's new surroundings. I love cat mint with evergreens. I agree with the shrub idea. you have the conical shape, how about a dome shapes evergreen like an abelia or mountain laurel that stay small enough not to shade the Thuja? But there is plenty of time to decide now that it looks, like you said, so lush. My fingers are crossed for you during this heat wave. Here in Massachusetts, It begins this afternoon and by Thursday we are close to 100. I'll spend the next three days babysitting the new additions. But that's ok. atleast it will be back in the high 80's by next week. Have a great day!
@therestlessgardener9287Ай бұрын
Thanks, I hope so!! We did cut the grasses back to help them so hopefully the start to push new growth at some point. Definitely not happy with this heat 😫! Take care.

Good morning. Lots of beautiful plants got to ground. Love ur garden. Ur planting design is so nice. I got one of those auger planter with different sizes…. At the end of the day , I prefer my shovel. My soil is the same as ur’s( NJ ) in fact I hurt my wrist by drilling into a rock. Ur husband is such a good helper. Love ur garden. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks 😊! Yes, as I said it's not a miracle worker for us in the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast 😒

I haven't invested in one of those drill bits yet. Massachusetts is rocky also. I wondered if it would actually save me anytime. i am going to say, after watching your video, it won't help much. But like you said, maybe on small cans with a smaller auger flange you would have better success. Everything looks beautiful :)
