I have already began adding in Elements Plus, you will find a special section for that in the right side menu towards the bottom.

OMG, my old computer crashed with Elements 11 on it and I can't recover it, even though I still have the disks and key codes. I've been doing the trial of Elements 2024 and it's such a pain! They've added so many clicks and frustrations for what I use it for. I only use PSE for opening a few layers for compositing photos from Lightroom Classic (many times per day), and I have to approve the 8 from 16 bit conversion EVERY SINGLE time. Then to use the eraser I have to approve something every single time. Then to save I can't just press enter a few times becuase they've changed the default options. I have to take the F****** mouse and select save. What I had with PSE11 was so seamless and easy. Now I almost want to quit my work.

George! Peter in Pensacola here. Good video and details. Is there a way to apply a gradient to an adjustment layer, like (light) levels? I have a photo that is too light on the right and too dark on the left. When I brighten the photo so the left is ok, the right is overexposed, and visa versa! Your video about luminous masks is good but is more about separating the sky. Is there a way to apply a gradient to light levels?
@HTGPhoto
@HTGPhoto 4 күн бұрын
Hi Peter, yes you can do that. The adjustment layer has a layer mask already applied, it is the white rectangle on the right side of the adjustment layer. When you make the adjustment layer the layer mask will be selected (light blue outline). With that layer mask selected you can apply a gradient to control the adjustment layer. Use a Black to White gradient with the gradient tool.
@peterinpensacola
@peterinpensacola 3 күн бұрын
@@HTGPhoto Woohoo, I got it. Took an hour to figure out, but your instructions are spot on. I think you should do a video about applying gradients to adjustment layers. And another about "brightness/contrast" vs "levels" adjustment layers. How they differ and examples of where each is preferred. Wish there was a way to post my before/after shot to show you. Thanks.
@HTGPhoto
@HTGPhoto 3 күн бұрын
@@peterinpensacola Great! The main difference between Brightness/Contrast and Levels is that Brightness/Contrast is an old adjustment tool and Levels is newer with more features. I stopped using Brightness/Contrast once Levels became available. I also like Curves over in Adobe Photoshop which is a more visual way to do these adjustments, but that tool isn't available here in PSE. The Elements Plus plugin has a version of Curves, but it is one of the few things in Elements Plus that is buggy, so not a big fan of that.

Great video and opens up a whole lot of new options and variety to a photo! I am really wanting to see what the Elements+ masking tools do because this will allow you to hopefully make very selective mask to isolate colors or such in a photo. Thank you again for spending some time on producing these. As you say LUTs are a big thing now days and every photo editing program is using them to some degree or another. Like using brushes, the outcomes are unlimited just depends on how creative one wants to be and the artistic look they are going for. Text is another one, perhaps 20 different subject types or more to investigate. Thank you for make difficult concepts easy to understand and make great edits in shorter time! Much appreciated! Rich

Hi George I have downloaded Elements Plus but don't have it in effects dropdown menu. How do I see this ?
@HTGPhoto
@HTGPhoto 13 күн бұрын
First make sure you run the Elements Plus program so that it is installed in PSE. Then in the Effects panel you should see Elements+ in the drop down if you are using an older version of PSE. If you are using a newer version, for instance 2024 then you will only see 3 options in the drop down, one of those will be Classic. Click on Classic to bring up the Classic menu where you will find Elements+. I have no idea why Adobe set up the menu this way with a sub menu.

Thank you so much for the Thanks! donation. Those really do help, I only make a couple of hundred bucks from KZfaq advertising per month for all the videos I put up, so the Thanks! are a big deal to me. Affinity Photo does have many of the features that are in the Elements+ plugin. It is much more like the full version of Photoshop than Photoshop Elements. For instance Affinity can work with separate channels and it has a full featured Styles panel. Some things I have only seen inside of Elements+ like the text options for putting text inside of a circle or doing the spiral text, those seem to be Elements+ exclusive, and aren't even in Photoshop.

You get a lot of bang for your buck with this plug-in. It can be a little awkward to work with initially put the time spent with it is time well spent. It's just too bad the curves tool doesn't work properly with this plug-in in Photoshop elements 2024. 🙁
@HTGPhoto
@HTGPhoto 13 күн бұрын
You are right Tom. The curves tool used to work correctly but hasn't now for a few years. Most of the panels and options are using older dialog box styles, so it can feel a little clunky. But as you say, once you get used to it Elements+ brings an amazing amount of power to PSE.

I look forward to see how you are going to use these tools. I never have used the full PS but still watched tons of videos from others. This is worth the expanding of your channel because no one else is doing anything like this using PSE on KZfaq!!! Your a very gifted and smart marketer!!! I appreciate you always!!! Rich

Thanks Rich! The whole reason I do Elements videos is because of my audience. Those are the videos that people have watched the most and the ones that are requested the most. Of course it doesn't hurt that PSE is my favorite photo editor for lots of reasons. I do use Adobe Photoshop for all of my professional work, just because of how capable it is and because I need the CMYK mode. But for anything online and my personal projects I use PSE. And Elements Plus really does add a lot of capability back into PSE.

Thank you for the info. Quick question Does PSE have an equivalent tool for the puppet warp tool that is found in Phototshop? Does this plug in have an equivalent tool?
@HTGPhoto
@HTGPhoto 14 күн бұрын
PSE 2023 and newer has a warp tool that is pretty good, but no puppet warp. It is more like the normal warp tool in Photoshop. Elements Plus doesn't have anything like that. For a true puppet warp you are stuck with Adobe Photoshop.

for my editing it occupied on the top of bg edited photo instead of just adding in background
@HTGPhoto
@HTGPhoto 14 күн бұрын
That's how it works, the photo you are removing the background from is sitting on top of the new background. Basically you are cutting away part of the top layer to show the bottom layer below, just like if you had two photos and you used a pair of scissors on the top photo to cut away part of that photo so that you can see the photo sitting below.
@robb_lucci9872

@HTGPhoto
@HTGPhoto 13 күн бұрын
@@robb_lucci9872 Ahhh, easy fix. Look at the Layers panel on the right side. If you don't see the Layers panel then open the Window menu and click on Layers. In the layers panel you will see that the island photo is on top of the elephant photo. Grab the elephant layer and drag it above the island layer and you are all set.
