As a starting point rather than using tape I would use a Compass or Calipers to trace the cowl radius on to the hood. Then sand back to the mark to get an even gap.

I am going through the wiring right now and have the same question on the "Hot Rod Wire". What was the verdict? and where did you decide to place the fuse box? Thanks for sharing
@OakHollowGarage4 күн бұрын
The hot rod wiring wasn't needed. I ended up putting the fuse box under the dash. It's difficult to explain. Look at a couple videos later I show the placement. I think it's part 33 or 34 where I talk about the location and the challenges because of where I put it.

Another interesting video-nice work Thomas! To help adjust the hood gap can you adjust the main body at all or is it fixed in one position on the mounts?
@OakHollowGarage4 күн бұрын
There is some room to adjust the body as well, but I think the hood will settle in nicely with some minor tweaks.

This is nearly exactly where I am with the hood. The passenger side curves in too on mine. Additionally the drivers side upper corner seems to sit quite proud of the body. It’s going to take a ton of manipulation. I’m now testing a new gas strut location closer to the pivot point to see if I can eliminate the struts wanting to push the body forward.

Another great video Thomas! We appreciate all the lessons learned, as we definitely keep them in mind with our own build. And thanks for sharing our channel and others' with your audience! Hopefully folks are watching all of our channels, because there are many ways you can build this car and its good to see the process from different perspectives.

Exactly, there's certainly no one "right" way to build these cars. I'm loving watching what you guys are doing and the handful of other builder's who are making content. We are a small community and it's important to learn from others as well as share and help them. Thanks for what you guys are doing. You make excellent content that's informative as well as entertaining.

I used an OEM nissan clock spring in my 2012 Titan and now the traction control light is on. Did I do something during installation or does it need to be reset at the dealer?

Took it to an alignment shop and $150 later the light is off. Pretty lame, but I couldn't find anything on any forum about someone being able to reset it themselves.

How did you managed to get the torque wrench into the other end of the control arm ?
@TheRacingShawnАй бұрын
Dealers are crazy these days. Macan has the same design. Dealer wanted $3000+. I bought the Meyle set for $220. It took me 4 hrs to get it done both sides. The pinch bolts on my car were easy to remove. The only challenging part was the installation of the interior bolts. The air suspension left limited space for my torque wrench. I ended up buying a slim flex head torque wrench and a low profile 16mm socket. Then the job was done smoothly.

Cruise & all steering wheel controls working again!!

A more effective/easier method of removing a stuck and seized in pinch bolt is to snap off/cut off the HEAD of the bolt to then PULL the bolt out from the threaded side using a specific, and very expensive, pulling tool.........but I prefer to use some threaded bar, a long connecting nut and a short length of square metal box section, costing approximately £20👍
@matthewcallnan88222 ай бұрын
I tried that...the threaded end snapped off, and I had to get a new knuckle

Im pretty sure the other wire is for a shut off switch. On the later models there was a shut off switch on the handlebars. You can put a dc switch between the black wire and the green wire and it will ground the coil and shut the bike off.... either way, with or without the switch you still ground the wire to the frame. Thanks for the video!

I just finished door fitment and would suggest trimming back the rear edge some to give be you some gap to the quarter panel. Radius the top of the door at the back to allow the arc to not hit the main body at the top. You will need to bevel the underside of the aft lip as well to help with clearance. Once you are “almost” done, latch the door and loosen the door frame to the hinges and the hinges to the frame and wiggle/hold/tighten the door frame to hinges first then the hinges to body last. Hope this helps

Can you connect temporarily the doorstops, in the roadster kit, there are leather doorstops maybe that would give you an idea how far the door will open.
@OakHollowGarage4 ай бұрын
Ya, I was thinking about that exact thing. The leather straps will show me the extent of the door opening to see if I need to remove more fiberglass. I have to make all the cuts in the doors and get them on and give it a try. Great suggestion!
