Dude, do you think this set can handle outdoor party usage around 50 people?
@eduardoborjas9284
@eduardoborjas9284 25 күн бұрын
Yes, I've played live music and dj sets for up to 75 or so in a wine bar. when i turn the speakers outward then people on both sides can hear from afar in outdoors setting. It's not gonna be club feel loud but the bass and frequency spectrum will be good quality. You will have to protect your tops from bottoming out by cutting out the bass to them with inline hi pass filters, adjusting the bass eq, and/or adjusting on the source music. Cheers.

@@eduardoborjas9284 this means the bass sound /low frequency offer too much power so that we need to prevent adding highly EQ with unconsciously? 😂 It’s pity still not having club like loud though. Thanks for your kindly response anyway.

I understand. Every speaker has its limits/strengths based on the system it is used with. I found that my two BoseS1Pros are very good for about 50-75 people (very clean with low noise), especially when I block the very low frequencies with an inline filter, or better yet with an active crossover. Then I can increase the volume on the boses1pro for larger crowds. I can also roll off the bass knob to help prevent low freq overload. For 100 people or more I suggest look at larger three way speaker cabinet like QSC 10.2 or 12.2. Good luck.

But as I recall, I had a lot of experimenting with the vinyl measurements and the speaker box before I decided to cut, stitch, and sew! I will say you should make sure that you have plenty of material, so that you can make it slightly larger than the box by about 10%. Hope this helps and give me a like if you haven’t already done so! Congrats and thanks for watching. I don’t have a S1 Sub but I would recommend stereo cable from your laptop to left and right input on your S1 Sub, then xlr outputs left and right to each of your Bose S1 Pros. If your S1 Sub supports High Pass Filter to the outputs then I recommend using that to protect your S1 pros.

Next time I will show the steps to make it yourself. Basically, 1) measure your speaker around and cut your cover about 5% larger so you have wiggle room, especially at the stitch sewn edges. 2) Stitch sew the vertical edge together. 2) Measure and cut a flat piece for the top about 5% larger. 3) Flip the pieces inside out and stitch sew the top onto the first piece. Cut off any excess. Tip: use markers and pin needles to hold the cover in place while you stitch sew together.

Hi. Thanks for watching. I don't have either Sub 1 or Sub 2 to run a side by side comparison with, but I've heard many positive things from folks about the Sub 2. What I've seen from other videos is that it uses a single racetrack-shaped driver inside a computer-tower shaped enclosure. So the form factor is certainly different from my traditional looking box of my KS112. Beyond that, I have no audible comparison, but I'll have to do so if I can get my hands on one - even if a loaner.

Thanks for watching, Mr Weiss! I don’t have a Bose Sub2 to run a sound comparison against but if I could compare these two subs I would. That said my choice was the QSC KS112 sub because of the casters, traditional look (form factor), and that it sets me up for future growth/expansion of my system for bigger venues. Right now, it suits my current needs for low end blend with the BoseS1 Pros while also setting me up for expansion if and when I can invest in higher capacity tops and another Ks112.

Hi thanks for watching! Good question. The Sub outputs (channels A and B) are both pass through, and they pass the signals on the inputs (A and B) even if the sub is powered off. I like this design, which means that the Bose S1 Pro tops will get a signal through the connections even if the sub shuts off. And yes, with this connection set up I’m not using the Bluetooth feature of the Bose S1 Pros.

@eduardoborjas9284
@eduardoborjas9284 Жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for watching! Love your comparison videos. Keep those coming! As far as your question I have two comments: 1) For this video I wasn't using true L/R Stereo, because I was running mono to each side. That's because I didn't have a proper stereo splitter cable with the right ends, so I used what was available. 2) I used a simple iPhone dongle with two 1/8" TRS headphone outs, then I ran two TRS cables from there. On the other end of these two cables I used 1/8" TRS Female to 1/4" Mono Male plugs to insert into the Sub. Note: a true stereo method is to just get a Stereo splitter cable that breaks out from 1/8" male stereo to 1/4" male Tip and 1/4" male Ring. I didn't have one of these stereo splitters available for this video, but it's on my stocking stuffer wish list. Hope that clarifies.

Hi! Thanks for watching! Given a single QSC sub and single Bose top configuration, I would think that your option (b) turning up the QSC volume, would achieve similar results to my “jumper loop” method. I would avoid splitting the source signal with a Y cable for a single sub, single top configuration. Also, whatever signal path I run, I’m always aware of impacts to my mono/stereo signal.

Hi thanks for watching! When I ran a single sub and single top, then that was the signal path that I used. Probably for about three times. I have since added another top, and a blue tooth stereo receiver, so now I send my stereo signal to the BT receiver, then stereo output to the QSC sub, then left/right output to the tops, respectively. I love the system set up! I’ll post a future video of that config some time. Stay tuned! I’m not sure of the capabilities of the KW118 but if it’s like the KS112, then it should work.

I never got to compare the QSC KS112 with the BOSE Sub2 system for two main reasons (differentiators in favor of the KS112). First, the KS112 has heavy duty casters, making transport a breeze for outdoor set ups. Secondly, if I ever want to upgrade to cover larger venues, all I have to do is add another Bose S1 Pro (or more powerful tops). I felt I could grow my micro-PA set up with the KS112 much easier.
