Thanks..! I see you like custom cars and you are a fan of the Lemon Twigs.. I'm sure you've seen their video using Gene Winfields car "The Reactor".. The song is "As long as we're together" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rrdkodSfu7XKfaM.html

@@billsmetal Oh, yeah, I've watched that video many a time. A friend turned me on to the brothers in 2016 and I've been kina obsessed w/ all things Lemon Twigs ever since. The Slims show SF was great a few years ago, but getting to see them twice within a week here in CA this year was nothing short of fabulous! They were on fire! Their father's latest record is really good as well!

Very noisy. Does it work on any surface other than flat pavement?
@billsmetal
@billsmetal Ай бұрын
Same as any hovercraft.. works best on smooth surfaces like pavement and calm water. Not so good on deep grass, because the grass diffuses the air and it drags on the grass.. It would be OK on a putting green. short tight grass. or on a wet beach..

He became a neighbor, one door down from me in Lahaina in ~1972. Those days, movie stars were passing through town all the time. I think back and wonder why Birney was such a big deal. I didn't find him that interesting, but I saw a lot of people laughing with him, starstruck. The only things I really remember about him were that he was kinda loud and dystopian, wore loud red framed glasses, had brown hair, was tall, and drank our shitty homemade beer, a lot of it, without complaint or effect. He was memorable, or I wouldn't have searched for him, right? But honestly, I don't know why, except "you know, he's famous" for some reason. Did not even know of him and Thompson or the Angels. Bronson, yes. Why? Dunno. Second-tier celebrity? He wasn't the only one in Lahaina back then. One guy drove a taxi, washed dishes, and won an Emmy for portraying Ben Franklin.
@billsmetal
@billsmetal Ай бұрын
Everybody is "famous" to somebody.. I'm sure there's a lot more people who don't know who Birney was, than do.. You described him pretty well.. If you haven't read it, you should read his book "What Do You Do With A Drunken Sailor" .. It's a very honest Autobiography, and he admits to being a bit of a scoundrel and a show off.. He was a larger than life Character for sure. I'm not sure I would have liked him in his younger days, but I'm certainly glad I met him and became friends when I did.

There's no date on this poster but it would have been made in March of 1969. just prior to the release of the movie. The pilot movie was released on March 24, 1969. The TV Series followed in September of 1969, and ran until April of 1970.

Hi! Thank you so much for your help. How do you avoid flat ends on the cone similar to the rectangular pieces you had? I have seen people bending only half the cone at a time starting from the middle section, do you think that is an effective method?
@billsmetal
@billsmetal 8 ай бұрын
If you were going to employ the tool (guide) that I showed, and rolled from the center out, or even rolled from both ends, you would have to readjust both ends of the rolls with every pass. It would be very time consuming and tedious. You would have to roll on the left and the right ends of the rollers. If you rolled from the center out, unless you hit the center just right, you would end up with either a hump or a flat in the center of your piece. I find that just putting the piece in until it just pinches and holds in place and then pushing it up by hand works as well and anything. It does require some experience to get it just right.

@billsmetal
@billsmetal 11 ай бұрын
This event is always in October.. Pretty much done mowing for the season and the yard gets repaired and replanted every year.. It's all part of the plan. It's always an awesome weekend.. It's an overnight camp out with kids and their fathers, with lots of activities and fun for everyone. There's Drift Cars, and Barbie Jeep Races, and I take my Batmobile to display along with other custom Cars and Hot Rods. There's other activities, as well as a huge fireworks display. The food is always awesome. And best of all there's lots of money raised for care of kids with illnesses.

See the link in my comment above... It's easy enough to build yourself.. I used a regular handheld magnifying glass, and a "Big Sun" Flashlight for this one.. You could use a piece of PVC pipe from Home Depot for the tube.. A hacksaw and some glue is all you need for tools.
