I agree, i too am english born and i too am horrified of what the english did to the Irish. I may be born english but my heart has always been scottish and i am moving there next year.Hope that Ireland will one day be united as my heart feels for Ireland too.

I'm English, born in Winchester, you don't get a lot more English than that. Anyone who sings this song, particularly as these young ladies have, gets my support every time. Thank you ladies..... beautiful song.

Half my ancestry is Catholic Irish. The rest includes descendants of Scottish protestants settled in the north of Ireland hundreds of years ago - to extend British rule. I think the divisions run deep - religion, power, control, ancestry, and ownership. The legacy of British rule is more than a “hangover” from the past being kept alive in beautiful songs.
