Yup that's how I do it... I'm just a short little man so it's annoying and hoped to find something more ergonomic for me 😂

Totally wrong. No need to remove the cover, just line up the marks on the cover and feed the line thru. Next, hold the container and turn the bottom ring ccw. That way you dont have to keep moving the string out of the way. If all else fails, read the manual.😀

Nice video, except the instructions explicitly state to hold the spool housing (cap) down while turning the spool gip (notched) COUNTER CLOCKWISE. Despite having restrung this thing numerous times over 3 years, I just did it wrong again. So, if all of you newcomers find your line not advancing when bumped, save yourself frustration, and just take it apart and reassemble following the above instructions. Other than the way the thing eats line (DeWalt), I would never go back to a gas machine again!

Does the safety button feel weird at all being on the side of the newer trimmer, or did u not even notice it being an issue?? Thanks for the video, awesome

Thank you because I have this type! I followed what you did and it works, happily. I learned that when the head turns to wind the string, I rotated the bottom counterclockwise so I didn't have to keep moving the string.

Avoid this DeWalt String Trimmer. My trimmer was less than 2 years old and stopped working. Many others reported similar issues. Not worth the time and expenses to repair. Junk!

2 years is a lot for £130 depends how often it was used and was it the strimmer or battery not charged for 2 years?

@@JayJono0069 Jay, I charged it to full charge every time I used it , Except for the non growing months, I used it for trimming around trees (4) during the spring /summer/fall. After cutting the Lawn.

Could anyone add a pic of the cap head spring? Somehow mine got separated and lost during a cleaning. Hate to have to buy a new head when I could maybe find a spring at Ace.

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzfaq.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

You wound up your string in a clockwise direction with the cap but the directions on the DeWalt instruction manual stated to go in a counterclockwise direction.

I found this to be a two-person project. Between the curl of the line itself and the fact that you're trying to wind it around the spool, it just keeps winding up a tangled mess. Way easier to have your wife stand there and hold the two ends while you turn it.

Great test. I am debating between these two models and your video comes in handy. Let me know please if there are other differences or cons not mentioned in the video. I did see the follow-up 4 mo later and this what I got: + less vibration + lighter - rectangular handle - taller spool base

I just checked out the 922 and like many others have noted,it's HEAVY and front end heavy to boot. That silly fold in half idea made it a pita ergonomically.

How much runtime did you get with your batteries? If you can include run times for both settings (1 and 2) if you used both for the duration of the battery, that would be great.

You don’t have to take the cap off to put new line through the head. Just line up the 2 lines on the outside of the spool and push the line through. Also, you don’t have to keep turning the spool to wind the line. It’s got a ratcheting action for that, so you just ratchet the spool back and forth and it winds the line onto the spool.

the battery is compatible with other 20v ... otherwise it is a purpose built line trimmer without unnecessary gadgetry that might make it turn into a band saw or maybe a go-cart.
