I like stainless and carbon steel. I do like my knives and guns clean and shiny. I just wonder how a steel can be easier to sharpen, as in remove and align material. Yet also be said to hold an edge longer.
@BakeryWizard132 күн бұрын
I think a lot of "old timers" experience with stainless steel is with the really early Chinese stuff and Pakistan stuff. Blades that weren't heat treated or treated correctly would be hard to sharpen and not hold an edge. Of course modern stainless doesn't have those problems. I just like the patina of carbon steel.

Dang man. It's like that was made on take your kid to work day. Their f&f is definitely garbage on some of their new knives. I'm one of the people saying pick your knives in person. I know you shouldn't have to and I agree but I still like having well made Case knives and that's one way for me to accomplish that. The thing that really chaps me is I find it VERY hard to believe that the company isn't aware of customer dissatisfaction, they just don't seem to care. It's infuriating.

I received my first Arthur Wright pocket knife yesterday, also from James and Company, Oregon. It’s a spearpoint gentleman Jack in the same Ebony scales. Really happy with it for the price and want to order a matching Barlow.
@JoelPerri77773 күн бұрын
Yeah looks like the pivot pin is prob bent a little. I wish Case was still as nice as they used to be. I refuse to buy any of their newer knives, cuz if all the issues you mentioned. You understand when it’s a $12 rough Ryder, but paying 75-100 for case, it should be damn near perfect. With bear and sons making the USA queens now, they upped their game in fit and finish I think
@mikeadams25384 күн бұрын
Finally! A reviewer who will tell it like it is! I made a decision a few months ago to add more Case knives to my collection to balance it out. Nearly 90% of the new Case knives I acquired had problems. Worst of all was their new high-dollar “Highbanks” knife. Piece of junk…and none of these are worth your time standing in line at the post office to return them. Case will just mire them down in technicalities…
@BaxtersBlades4 күн бұрын
Wow! You got a really bad one!! Mine was perfect besides my rust spot on the blade!😂 I got it off and put some patina on it! Sorry to see that! The Bear and sons are great! also my Queen by them.

Those 4" Barlow's are fantastic. Although I've had some issues with B&S too. However they're usually like half the price of a case knife. One of my favorite knives is a Bear and Son stockman

I don’t even know what to think of that blade style. Definitely never for me. And Case has definitely lost their way on QC.
@deltacharlie4144 күн бұрын
That's why I won't buy Case knives anymore, the fit and finish on their knives isn't what it used to be. I hate to say it but some of the Chinese knives are built better at a more reasonable price.
@Semitotal4 күн бұрын
That gap is egregious. I only have two Case knives and they're ok, not great. I also would like to see Case thrive.
@doomcrewoutdoors16134 күн бұрын
The pivot is crooked, that’s why it goes from one side to the other, if the blade was bent at the tang it would stay to the same side.

I have straightened many Case blades but the only 2 that failed(actually snapped off) were carbon steel. The stainless steel blades seem to be a little more forgiving. I have had no luck trying to straighten there carbon steel. Good luck if you try. If it works please let us know how you did it. Thanks. Take care.

I got the Copperlock and I get what you’re saying about the flag shield, while I wouldn’t call it “Tacky” (Rough riders are tacky imo) the only concern I have is that it won’t age well like the rest of the knife. I have a very nice blue trapper with the same flag shield and it looks amazing, but I hardly ever carry that knife. I’m a big 75 fan myself, I’d also like to have one of these to carry.
