I like to plan ahead because I'm not sure of what I'm doing if not . I've considered reverse planning for when life happens and just wondered though how you get prepared for each lesson or craft , etc without planning upfront.. I just pretend if we didn't get the lesson Monday that if we did it Wednesday it was done and I'm able to check it off for the " week" and if we don't do it I don't check it and I roll it over to the next week . It s kind of a reverse plan in the sense that if we do a different thing I always have it in pencil and can change it. I also have my kids roll a dice after morning basket or morning meeting and they get 1 = mom time, 2= reading 3= writing and literary 4= math and so on its a fun way to shake things up ... we only work about 25 to 30 minutes on each of those rotations 2 to 3 a day then we do a snack and minute to win it in-between and they love that! 😂 I have 4 kids as well..

Hello there, I am new to following you, and I love your videos and I appreciate your help so much! I am trying to find the Primary Composition Notebook you are using with Draw - Write - Now. Could you share where you purchased that? My children LOVE the Draw - Write - Now series! Thank you!! 💕

Is this considered a core subject hitter curriculum (except math), like HSLDA would say it covers all core courses?
@TheEclecticHomeschooler6 күн бұрын
If you choose to use their Core Connections sections, yes, it includes all core subjects other than math. Or you can choose just to do the basic study with those pages. It’s customizable in that way. 😄

Thank you for this video. I would love to hear how you pull of these together. Do you plan what time period you're going to cover, and what does that entail? Do you do it chronologically? Do you assign writing tasks or narrations in addition to the book of centuries? I love to combine our history and literacy (language arts) and would love to know if you do this, too. Thank you!

This is a great video. I have a genuine question. I hear a lot of homeschool moms saying we must unlearn school so that we can teach kids in a way that suits them And to a degree, I agree with that thought. But my question is, is hat feasible if you live in a highly regulated/strict state when it comes to homeschooling. Every subject is mandated. You must submit an affidavit the first year of homeschooling, and every year you must present a portfolio to an evaluator who decides if your child is receiving a proper education. Then children must take standardized testing at certain ages. These are the requirements in my state and I am a new home school mom. I dont have to do all of this until next year when i officially homeschool but will unofficially start this year since my child will be in kindergarten. I feel like with all these requirements i am almost forced to have a more traditional school setting at home. Not necessarily the way i teach or the set up, but mainly with the subject and quantity. I am not much of a planner but i have to start using one because so much documentation will be required and i need to have it organized. So this upcoming school year will be a trial run of homeschooling if you will, so that by time my son is in first grade I am not completely overwhelmed. Sorry for the long comment. But i do want to get perspective from other moms who are teaching in less restrictive states or highly regulated ones. Love the video!

Thanks so much! We live in a moderately regulated state so unfortunately I don’t personally have experience that might help in your situation. We just are told the subjects that need to be taught over the course of homeschooling, how many hours to do and that we have to do yearly testing, so I’ve never had to prepare a portfolio or submit curriculum for approval, etc. I know there are several homeschoolers here on YT that do live in more restricted states that might have better advice for you. Christina at Rooted Home Life lives in NY where they are quite regulated and she follow a more unschooling approach, so I know it’s possible to do. There are ways to be creative with how you cover certain subjects in a more non-traditional approach while still making sure you meet your state requirements! It just might take a little more effort on your part to do the research and make sure you are following the law. I would definitely suggest trying to find some local to you homeschoolers who have some experience in that area and see if they can give you a little direction. Often there are groups on Facebook as a way to connect. I know it can seem super intimidating when you are first getting started, but really it doesn’t have to be as complicated as we often make it out to be! (Speaking from personal experience 😅). Especially in the early years, learning happens naturally all the time and you can often count everyday towards your required time, I.e. going for a walk could turn into a nature walk (science) when you stop to look at insects or the plants around you, then you go home and look up some more info about the thing you saw, etc. There are definitely creative ways to make your requirements fit your lifestyle and do things in a way that brings your family joy rather than bogging it down with drudgery! Wishing you all the best!!

@TheEclecticHomeschooler thank you for responding! I think I like the more traditional route because I dont want there to be any gaps in his education. And like you said I might be making things a bit harder than it should be due to this being new for us. But I'll do my best to be creative. I'll probably do schooling with some unschooling in there. I will figure it out. Thanks again! 🤎

Do you have a curriculum or online course that you use for piano? Or are those lessons done in person? Thanks!

Both! We use the Simply Piano app at home for my younger three and my oldest does in person lessons with a teacher.

@@rettpanda6203 I don’t think they’re enough for a credit on their own, unless you did multiple that could apply to the same subject, but I definitely used them as part of our resources for credits.
