The lecture at the end was good coverage of the subject. I got the "talk" when I was 10. In high school, my peers thought they knew it all. At least I knew from a reliable source - my parents.

As fond as I am of Gloria Talbot, the story raised my hackles from the start. The boyfriend *tells* her that she's to stop working immediately (walking out on her employers with no notice) , get married when he says so, and go live with *his* parents! And when she has the self-respect to object, he walks out on her! That she should be pleased to be back with such a creep at the end was just hair-raising. I'd like to think that she ditches him in a few years and goes back to her career.

Dumb that she didn’t question the fact he had all the papers to sign and on their wedding day.

Wonderful old movie, just love watching those old films. No Netflix can compare to that brilliant era of black and white movies

This was made in Cinecolor. I suppose this copy originated with a 16mm b/w tv print at some point.

1:01 It must have been sheer torture for a kid to see the first cliffhanger installment of these short serials and wonder anxiously how you were going to find even a penny during the Great Depression to see the next installment!…..And even worse if your friends all saw it, and you’re forced to listen to them recount what you missed.

I was 8 when I saw this at the local movie house. My mother thought I would have nightmares, but I did not find it that frightening.

The patol boat giving chase at 36:08 was famous for taking out the Grey Ghost, a rum-running vessel, at Santa Cruz Island in 1926.

Great story and always good to see Tom London in supporting cast roles in these old films. Thanks 🍕Flix for these old 1930’s films when good was good and evil was evil.

There is nothing better than 1970s made for tv movies. Even the bad ones were good. And the good ones were great, pure entertainment. Dim lighting, shag carpets, land yachts and women with long hair .... what more could you ask for?

Fingerprints on a bullet? Heard of fingerprints on casings, but not a fired bullet, especially after it's gone through someone's head and into wood then dug out with a penknife. Sidney Blackmer is always great, same with Byron Foulger.

Gavin Gordon, who played the police detective, was Edward Everett Horton's partner for decades. Years earlier, he had a brief but memorable turn as Lord Byron in Bride of Frankenstein.

Великолепный сериал! После советского, английского и американского кажется, что превзошел их всех интересными сценариями, а игра актеров на самом высоком уровне!!! Теперь можно наслаждаться долгие годы!!!

it is amazing what were the beauty standards then, or maybe this was just a bad example of female characters. I saw many other women acttresses of that era and they were stunning, like really beautiful and sweet, dolls face with enchanting features, even though the make up was so heavy at that time. This woman though looks like she seems much older than the male characters and a bit too trashy, somehow like Jean Harlow, who at least had an appealing body, but older and uglier. Those lips though ... and the whole makeup, her fat double chin, were so ugly to me or maybe just looked bad on her. PS edited - i see in one of the previous comments that the actress was in her mid forties, which then makes sense for how she looked, but then, why did they choose her to play with younger men at that time? perhaps she was very famous, although i have never heard of her.

I haven’t read the book, and they’re down to 6. I’m going to say Niki, as no one will go into the room his ‘body’ Is in. Let’s see if I’m bested by Madam Christie! …..4 left, Lombard speaks of himself in the third person. The End…..and I was half right.
