I would like to make this comment to old and new directors. I watch videos to WATCH them. If I wanted to read I would get a book, for some reason you think that having actors speak in diffent languages seem more authentic. All it does is piss me off, like I said, if I wanted to read I would buy a book. Not sure what brought this on but it’s getting old, just have them speak in their native accent, I can figure it out from there

Dust is a great outlet for these amateur, and student films. I imagine it's a lot of work even making short films. The ones that amaze me the most are are Star Trek fan productions, but even those, and like this movie are fraught with amateur acting. Same with the writing in this case, and the ironic twist didn't work either. But good practice, and I hope they had fun making it.

Hi, nice short film. The plus: the human dreamt about aliens coming to rescue humanity from itself and humanity went extinct. That's a pretty accurate guess about what would happen if we continue the business as usual hoping for a miracle from the outside (aliens, fusion energy, technological breaktrhough) to help us clean our mess. But there is a big plot hole: if you can communicate instantly by radio using hyperspace (I'm ok with that) why not send drone to probe every system they mapped. The ambassadors were just pushing buttons. Something you can do with radio. Don't tell me "interferences", they were having instant conversation with clear sound. So locate with probes a system with life form, then send directly the ambassadors. (It reminds me of Pacific Rim were human build giant bulky robot hard to control to fight Kaiju.)

Where are the happy ending sci-fi shorts?

Humans screwing themselves up so much that they optimistically go out to beg for giant bail outs from strangers they don't even know are there. Progress from merely praying, but still, totally summarizes the vast bulk of modern humanity. Not most humans throughout history, or esp prehistory. Just modern humanity. Putting aside that it's humans, would it really be wise or enlightened for an advanced species to help such another species, just like humans? I mean, maybe, but the strings attached could be more than humans even want. Instead of having the decency & self-respect to go extinct from your own poor decisions, autonomously, humans would end up begging for a global bailout from totally alien strangers who may have totally alien values (moreso, even than human cultures here on Earth). It'd end up w no autonomy, as a pitied thing that may have some potential, 1 day, *@ best*. The worse case scenarios may be unimaginably horrific to most human sensibilities It might be more dignified, in such conditions, for humanity to just go extinct rather than that, no?

Lol, it's a throwback to the old black and whites from the 40's and 50's. Those spacesuits are definitely "Retro".
