I'm glad I have me an Ioxus cap, it really does help with my system 100%. And I've noticed my car starts up real quick, as if it's helping the starter power up. Not sure if it's suppose to do that but not complaining. Keeps the voltage stable and massages the alternator and battery when the bass drops. If ur into SQL, I recommend an ultracap!!
@JasonWW2000Сағат бұрын
Just like an amplifier, the starter pulls a massive amount of amperage when it first engages. So the cap is definitely going to help it.
@JasonWW20004 сағат бұрын
I know most amps, like regular 1,000 watt or less, will have a tiny parasitic drain. Less than a fraction of 1 millamp. So tiny it's negligible. Really big amps or big capacitors, I don't know what the parasitic drain is. If anyone has examples, let me know. I'm interested.
@JasonWW20004 сағат бұрын
1:17 Woah, 1/10 of an amp? That's way too much. That's 100 milliamps. Most vehicles are less than 5 milliamp (1/200 of an amp), while more modern cars can be up to 15 or 20 milliamps (1/50 of an amp). Anything over 20 milliamps is usually going to be a problem. A 20 milliamp draw should still keep the battery charged enough to crank after a month. A 5 milliamp draw should last for several months. Note that you have to wait for all the vehicles computers to go into sleep mode to measure the true parasitic draw.

How many watts do you think that I will be able to handle with two 255 amp alternators two AGM batteries two ultra capacitors running the 4/0 copper welding cable ?

Kinda off topic - question - I had to pull down my Free Air setup today (backseat delete -honda Accord) because, idk some of the lower sounds were too long? (I that makes sense). So, I'm tired of scratching my head and I have a lot more I have to get done before winter gets here... I'm just going with a wall setup... Which would be best 2x 15s over 2x 12s? Or vice/versa? Also, 4x 8" subs. Would there be any problem if I place 2 on the left and 2 on the right facing one another? 2 - left side the car. 2 right side the car. I have more questions but I won't overload ya lol... Thanks! Wall which will be sealed enclosure... Nothing fancy. This build is wearing me out lol

2 15s will tend to be able to play lower louder, IF you have the right airspace for them, likely though 2 12s with the same airspace will give you better lows, if youre tight on the space. as far as opposing 8s that will work just fine, they will tend to be tighter, and punchier, but wont get as low as well as larger subs.
@BrianWaller-qe7grКүн бұрын
Bracing is not needed if you have double wall at least 1 inch birch or mdf. Or you have heavy subs that aren’t top firing. I just have corner 45’s in a 6 cube box for two 15 subs

set a hard object on top of an unbraced box, lil sucker will jump around. thats what bracing stops. but its all about what youre doing, and what your working with. 18inch drag slicks are not needed on a 400hp sports car, but very important on a 2000hp dragster.

If on a budget for a sq 5 channel, I'd go with the polk audio pad5000.5. It has a s/n 105db. I have a ds18 exl p800x4, s/n 90db and it's a great class ab amp with clip indicator on the nob and front and rear clip light. The only reason I'd consider switching to the polk is because it's a class d more efficient and less noise. My deafbonce apocalypse atom plus aap 1600.1d is a very strong amp, and no fans doesn't even get hot. The deafbonce amp has no fans, so it's silent vs. the 2000.1d, version which does have a fan. The ds18 4 channel fan is loud and distracting behind my seat so I'd prefer the polk at some point. I believe it's also fanless.

Almost exactly the box I'm designing for my jeep. Within an inch inside dims. Using BB6, After port volume accounted for, I could get 29hz tuning with the port at 18.5". That's with the port mounted flush on that same side measured. If I move it, I could make 25.5 hz with the full 22" adjustable. Definitely recommend the adjustable, tuning frequency in software is not always accurate. Although I can report better results with bassboxpro over winISD, they have all been different designs. Only way to rly know is to build it and test an impedance sweep. I think I'm going to aim for 29 and probably go up. Lowest I really want is 24-25 with authority, but trying to gain some in the 60-70 from the 26hz 2 12s box that's in t

@CarAudioEnthusiasts I didn't catch what you are running. I scooped the last 5 EMF lowballers when he closed up shop/xmas i think it was. Roughly equivalent to the SAv2 with a 31hz fs and was 130 each shipped. Was originally going to be a backseat wall in a malibu. I'm probably going subs up port up so I can use the 22" if I want to, just that driver side wall is the strongest part of the back end.

According to WinISD a 10" port at 25Hz should be 21.75" 16" = 28Hz 18" = 26.75Hz Port velocity gets pretty high at 24Hz, depending on the power you are running to them. So a single 10" port might not be enough.

Bracing is very important. somewhat overused DIY, its underused OEM. My general rule is if the bracing affects the airspace #s too much, then ive got to rethink something, but it cant hurt otherwise. Offsetting the inner layer if doubling triples the surface area of the corner. 45s defintely help airflow, but IMO dont have to be 45s outside the port, ill use cutoffs from the panels to add strength to corners. Ofc airspace issues is why I've had to jump to a 10" aeroport and metal pipes for center bracing.

Good stuff. I think people need a reminder of the basics every now and then. My next box build is going to use corner bracing just for the extra strength and sealing. Plus it looks good. My only issue is how to cut them without a table saw. I'll probably use solid wood as mdf and plywood don't seem suitable. Can you buy strips of 45° cut wood?
@CarAudioEnthusiasts4 күн бұрын
you can buy quarter round, its a generic molding used in cabinet and such

From personal experience I have removed "bracing" from certain enclosures and got louder SPL wise, the only thing I disagreed with on his video was the 45 degree corners, I think every enclosure should have 45s, it stops "dead spots" forming in corners and then you lose output and efficiency.
