Pumped to see more vids of this car! I did the twin-turbo removal with engine in the car a couple of months back using JDM Right Hand Drive's video as a guide - real painful job but his guide was perfect. My advice would be get a very long, very thin, 12 mm - there's a couple of manifold bolts you just can't get a socket on and you'll want something with exended reach and low profile. Also don't be me and forget to disconnect the oil return hoses while your uinder the car disconnecting the exhaust...

Thanks for the advice! I assume you’re talking about a long, thin 12mm wrench, correct?

@@True60RS wrench yes! I found most of the rear bolts I couldn't get to even with swivel-sockets. A few were frustrating, but just needed to be done an eighth turn at a time from above.

Looking good man. Couple things; I know your car is back together since this was done, but when rtv-ing the baffles, you wanna make sure there are no big globs once it's all cinched down. Much like the tiny screws, you don't want any rtv falling off over time and getting in the valvetrain, which rtv has the tendency to do over time. If you ever go big single and have to take them off again maybe take a look. Also, I have the same Fitmint igniter delete panel; make sure those screws are threadlocked as well, as I would find mine had come loose over time. Not the hugest danger, but it's a PITA to lose those screws and spacers. Other than that, congrats on getting the intake manifold out; that was really damn hard I found. Just barely enough room to get it out, and undoing hoses and bolts under the plenum and out of view was the funnest part hah

What part of VA are you in? Im in Hampton roads and seen there is a 260rs running around. I have 2 stageas headed over early next year from Japan. They are both 99's/ The one im keeping has a 260rs body kit.

ya it would be, mine should arrive like late March then I start the build. Doing power adders, nothing crazy shooting for 400ish whp. Then body and paint. I'll have it ready for car show season next year.

I would really love to do the same thing getting a 260RS. Who and where did you get the importing done through?

I used SCW Performance down in Carrollton, TX. They found the car for me, negotiated a good price with the dealer in Japan, then brought the car over to the US, titled it in Texas and then sold it to me. Their fee was about $1200 which I think is super cheap for the amount of work they did on my behalf.

Great video! My wife and I are in the process of bringing a 260RS to the US as well- any recommendations on where to read up on maintenance, parts to replace, etc? We have a few sources we are studying up on, but would love to learn more!

Hey! Thanks for the comment. I learned everything from those that came before me. Check out jdmrighthanddrive, builtbyblake and motive video’s KZfaq channels for all things GTR and RB26. Outside of that, download a copy of the R33 service manual and don’t push the stock turbos past 1 bar (14psi) unless you want the ceramic turbines to go boom

Hey! Thanks for the comment. I actually hated it and swapped it for the Fujitsubo Power Getter exhaust due to the greddy’s insane drone

Thanks for the information. I’ve currently got the GReddy Revolution RS on mine and that drones a lot! I was hoping this would be better, but I guess GReddy just love making drone-ridden exhausts!

Valve/Coil covers look magic! I run one of the Fitmint valley ornaments, but only because mine had the red '34 covers and I didn't like that it said "Skyline" on top of the engine. In this case the factory Nissan one definitely wins out.

Fairly certain that with the possible exception of the NISMO timing belt - every single other aftermarket option is a rebranded Gates (the Greddy ones definitely are). Gates make a great product, but I went back to OE Nissan because the rest make a wub-wub-wub-wub noise regardless of how good you get the tension. Also 90% sure sealant should go around the water pump - Was it not caked with that horrible red-brown Nissan stuff when you took it off? Build is looking Epic! Can't wait to see it done.

@True60RS Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Hopefully this HKS rebranded gates belt won’t give me any noise issues. I’ll definitely post an update once I start it up. The old water pump definitely had that rusty brown gasket on there. I saw your comment yesterday and I decided to take the pump off and put ultra grey gasket maker on it just to be safe.
