Love your work, and this is so well explained! I'm rediscovering Gelli printing, and I'm so frustrated - I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong this time. I just end up with a splotchy mess because it just doesn't pull up all the paint. Is it the paper? Is it the paint? I'm using Utrecht paint, making sure not to use too much or too little. I'm making sure to wait a full 5 minutes before pulling, and the plate is brand new. Argh. I'd love some advice because I used to be able to do this! Thanks for any help.

These are amazing! On the grass prints, how long did you let the paint dry before doing the pulls? Thanks for sharing your techniques.

Honestly, not very long! Just until I can touch the plate and I don’t have paint on my finger. You can zap with a hair dryer on cool setting to speed it up. Thanks for commenting and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! 💖

Better paint = better prints because good paint has more pigment. Have you tried Golden or better yet, since you like layers, Golden Open? I can’t help imagining your prints made with Golden.

Hi! Thank you for the tutorial. I just got a gel plate and am looking forward to trying it. I was wondering if you are letting paint drying in the plate and layering on the plate, have you had issues of the paint layers not adhering to the paper or other item properly? Thank you
@jennifertobinart
@jennifertobinart 2 ай бұрын
Hello! Yes I do a lot of layering! Depending on what I’m working on will depend on if I layer things on the plate (yes, letting dry between) or layer things on the paper. You’ll start to learn what you love the more you play! 🤩 I also have other videos where you can see how I pull things together and layer up, in case that helps you. Enjoy!

I just happened to come across your video tonight. I’m always looking to try new artistic methods. What company do you use to purchase your gel plate and stencils? What do you do with your finished pieces?
@jennifertobinart
@jennifertobinart 3 ай бұрын
Hi Shelley! I purchased my gel plate on Amazon (links in description). But they are also available on art supply sites as well. I started with a 6x6” when getting started and also highly recommend the 8x10” size that’s in this video. I also link stencils, but personally love @stencilgirl So many options for using the prints. They are very commonly used in collage and mixed media artwork. I also love making finished pieces of artwork including landscape paintings. And I also make earrings! Feel free to check out my website where you can see examples of things I’m made and techniques I teach. www.jennifertobinart.com 💗💗 Thanks for your comment!

Hej - og mange tak for din meget lærende video.

Hello, Anna Marie! Thanks so much for watching and commenting. 💗 For this video I had my papers cut pretty close to size, so i just “eye-ball” it when placing the papers on. You can tape your papers down so they are on what’s like a hinge. That works really well if you’re working on one paper. I work that way sometimes when doing landscapes. Or, yes, there is a placement tool available to buy. But in this video, I am bouncing between so many papers that wouldn’t have worked for me. So I was just guessing and not worried if it it isn’t perfect. 😍
