Love YNP and especially the Madison, Soda Butte and Lamar. I’ve found that a 4 to 5 wt works best with a Floating Line (no sink tip). I’ll use my Orvis Superfine Carbon 8 ft. 4 wt. on Soda Butte and Lamar. And my Winston Boron IIIX 8’6” 4 wt.or my Scott G2 8’9” 5 wt. The Lamar can get windy and the Winston works best in the wind. I’ll use my Orvis Superfine Touch 7’6” 3 wt. on some of the smaller streams like the Gibbon and Galiton. Favorite time to go there is in September and almost always use a hopper with a gold ribbed midge dropper. Nice vid! Always dry fly fishing there for me. Tight lines!

Great vid! Two ideas for better survival of catch and release trout: 1. Use an underwater camera to take your pics with the fish in the water and 2. Use a no-touch catch and release tool, so you never have to handle the fish. TU recommends both of these (never touching the fish and never taking them out of the water) for the best success at survival. I use the "Ketchum Release" tool myself, slides right down the line and unpins the fly effortlessly. Tight lines!!!
@fishhaus26442 жыл бұрын
I'll have to check out that tool. I've tried multiple cameras in the past, I found it to be a hassle fumbling around 2-3 cameras, the fish end up sitting in the net longer when I'm struggling to get cameras set up.
@stonefly692 жыл бұрын
Fun vid. But a sucker? That is the native Mountain whitefish, son. The Mountain whitefish "is one of the most widely distributed salmonid fish of western North America.[2] It is found from the Mackenzie River drainage in Northwest Territories, Canada south through western Canada and the northwestern USA in the Pacific, Hudson Bay and upper Missouri River basins to the Truckee River drainage in Nevada and Sevier River drainage in Utah.[3]" Tight lines! What cigars do you favor???
@stonefly692 жыл бұрын
@@fishhaus2644 Yeah. If you like stronger cigars, try a Diesel, especially the Unholy Cocktail. For milder, I like the classic La Gloria Cubana, in the Wavell size. Great flavor. Tight lines!

You're close, the logan is actually a tributary to the Bear River. About 10,000 years ago the Bear River flowed into the Snake River. However, after lava flows near Blackfoot Idaho, the Bear River was rerouted into the Great Basin. In fact, the Bear River contributes the majority of the water to the Great Salt Lake.

Could have been a monster brown..
@fishhaus26443 жыл бұрын
Maybe, the few times I was close to it, it had a very blue/silver coloring to it. I was thinking a big rainbow. The video doesn't do it justice, this thing was MASSIVE, 30"+, I should have tried getting a better shot of it but it would only let me get about 15 feet from it before it would swim upstream.

I don't fly fish, so stream and river browns are a rare prize for me. Nice fish. And you finally completed the slam to boot. Fun to watch.
@fishhaus26443 жыл бұрын
You should try fly fishing out, I rarely pick up a spinning/baitcasing rig anymore, fly fishing is a ton of fun. Eventually I'm going to make a video on what beginners should look into for their first fly fishing set up, theres a lot of expensive stuff out there you really don't need.
@bradrtorgersen_videos3 жыл бұрын
Little Dell is nice, because you can get some REALLY quality fish near the SLC metro area. I got an 18-inch Bonneville out of there about a week ago, on a spinner. I've never had a red-hot day at Little Dell, but the size of the fish usually makes up for the quantity. Nice, pretty spring fish you got!
