How do you deal with enemy rollers, blasters, and sloshers constantly attacking ledges? There's almost nothing players can do in that situation but let them take space. If you drop down to take them on, you're forced to turn away from the front line leaving you vulnerable, attacking from the ledge more often than not results in death, and falling back gives them map control.

Great video! I love ink mines on the ballpoint. I hope everyone here remembers that God loves you ❤ Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

I was a Teemo main in my League of Legends years, when I bought Splatoon 2 a few months before 3 released, the first weapon i ever mained was undercover brella, I don't know why but I love setting traps and shutting down the enemy when they try to push you. Mines and shield combo is so funny. I hope there is a mine+super chump combo some day

question, does the ability's effect matter if i put the ability in the main slot or the sub slot? im asking this bec im confused from the video, it specifically notes 3 mains 3 subs 3:29 instead of saying 6 SPU abilities total. 3:55 'no SPU vs 3 mains' instead of no SPU vs 3 SPU.. i hope someone can clear this for me. i've been under the impression that i can just put my abilities whichever slot.
@pikadave465
@pikadave465 15 күн бұрын
For any ability that isn't exclusive to main slots the strength of the effect is measured in ability points, often shortened to AP, with more points meaning more effect. An ability a main slot is worth 10 AP and each sub slot is worth 3 AP, so main slots are significantly more impactful. So in the case of testing an insanely high amount with the 3 mains 3 subs that I had in my tests, that's 39 AP of sub power, 30 of which were coming from just the main slots (Though I wouldn't actually recommend a build like that, it was just for show. The additive benefits of each ability get weaker the more of it you wear so a variety of abilities is generally best). A general way to look at it is that 3 sub slots is about equal to 1 main slot, since 9 and 10 are close.

I believe that the best weapon that pairs with ink mine is rapid blaster. It can be used to one-two punch opponents in an extremely satisfying way.

I miss Splatoon 1 Aero RG so much. The loop of presenting yourself as a threat (to their turf control) that is easy to dispose of (because Aerospray) -> getting opponents to chase you down -> blowing them up on a mine and finishing off with the main if necessary -> repeat until they are too afraid to go after you alone -> enjoy psychological victory was so fun. It'd be so much better with modern Mine mechanics too. Why did it have to be Sprinkler?

I think I've learned a lot from this amazing video, so thanks! I'm an E-Liter and Octobrush main, and one of my favorite ways to set up mines is around wherever I'm sniping (though I move a lot). When I'm approached/chased, I find an interesting way to use the mines is to place them as you're running away. E-Liter can't defend itself that much up-close, but baiting players while being chased allows for a nice combo with a tap shot. I think this could be applied with other weapons as well. Mines really are underrated and flexible. Thanks for teaching more ways to use them!

Different weapons prefer a different balance of active vs. passive mines. Vunder, for instance, greatly prefers active mines. Its shield lets it place mines closer to enemies than other weapons, or stall enemies while you back up into passive mines. I always try to drop mines with the goal that it'll explode within eight seconds of placing. Tent, on the other hand, prefers passive mines, as its positioning lets it lock down objective, but is weak in fights against enemies with mobility options.

I'm assuming the "one utility sub left" you mentioned at the end is Splash Wall but please consider maybe someday making a video about Curling Bomb. While it is technically a bomb, it works so differently from other bombs that it is used primarily as a utility sub in practice. I think it deserves to also have a guide made about it.

true but curling bomb cooking is actually pretty threatening as a pure bomb too. partially because it can trap slower weapons before exploding and paints a ton. it's such an interesting sub.

One thing that I hardly see mentioned about Ink Mine is that you can use it to protect your landing with recall specials. For example, if you're about to pop an Ink Jet with Annaki Nova, you can place a mine right before you use the special and if anyone tries to camp your recall, they will get marked. It's especially helpful because it allows you to use the Ink Jet in more aggressive spots because of the safety net that the mine provides.

Our hydra loves mines. One trap tech that you didn’t specifically mention that he loves is: Placing ink mines where enemies go to heal or retreat Crim actually does this at 8:52, placing a mine behind the balloon. They weaken the enemy dualie, who rolls behind the balloon to escape, but run into a mine which finishes them off. It can be a very reliable combo for hydra, as they land one or two shots on someone and force them to back into a mine to secure the splat.

main issue is you gotta move forward to set it up and then back up, doesnt work super well outside of wipeouts and then you have to make sure the opponents dont go through those mines while getting to you.

Great video! I think ink mines are by far my favorite utility sub! I really enjoy the trapping and damage when I'm playing annova Also have you seen Triggerfish Zones Supremacy's KrakenMare and their 3+ mains of sub power up on their vanilla undercover? They talked about how they wanted to lean into heavy support and I think the attributes you outlined in this video really demonstrates that!

This sub would be so good on Explo. It’s the same situation as Beakon where when the kit synergy exists, a weapon can thrive more than it could ever have had with a bomb. Examples: Beakon- Ballpoint Ink Mine- Camo/Sorella Tent Ink Mine- Hydra Ink Mine- Inkbrush Ink Mine- Eliter My personal favorite was Camo brella with Stamp/Mine. THE BEST COMBO EVER. Holding off choke points in clams on skipper, kelp dome, or ancho-v-games was a meance. Ink Mine + Triple Splashdown on Explo would’ve been amazing I swear. Also Ink Mine + Crab NEEDS to be a kit for something at least. Big Bubbler + Mine would be cool asf because combined with the paint buff of bubbler and sub power up would just instantly paint the bubble. Also 96 gal with Ink Mine would combo so well. Great video!

i want to add something to this: The Splattershot Pro would probably be the most ideal shooter if it wasnt for its lack of painting by the feet. Because of this (1) U usually choose to either paint my feet with Angle Shooter because the Pro usually dies from getting stuck in enemy ink more than any other reason. (2) Keeping targets stationary enough to splat them is usually a challenge because the Pro also does not paint much under enemy feet, and usually the enemy will have enough ally ink to swim out of your shots The Angle Shooter technique of hitting the ground is pretty nice for close range battles against good and bad turf painting weapons because (1) they will get stuck in small pool of ink to stop them from swimming (minus lag) and they should be weak enough and stationary enough to finish off.

Pika do you have any advice about getting demoralized by this game? I really love a lot of much more difficult and less rewarding weapons, especially tri stringer and it's been really disappointing to try as hard as I can to master this weapon, lose over and over and feel crappy about that, and then switch to like a splattershot and win consistently and get kills easily, but have way less fun with the weapon itself I fully buy that no weapon is unviable in soloq but it's just hard when it's clear that when I play this weapon I'm trying so much harder just to have less impact than any other weapon. And I really do enjoy it, it's just really hard to enjoy a weapon when you feel like you're not getting better and everybody else is
@pikadave465
@pikadave465 Ай бұрын
To make highly technical weapons work at least in my experience you have to get deep into the details on what makes that weapon unique and make the most of that. In the case of tri stringer I know most players see its crazy turf output and potential to play like a charger or other backline weapon thanks to its range, but I don't often see stringers get bold with the close range tap shots or get creative with arcing shots over terrain as much as they could and other things like that, and those traits paired with the more standard playstyle for the weapon is what makes stringer special compared to other options. To find long term success and enjoyment out of weapons like that you have to have some intrinsic motivation to continually experiment with new ways to utilize the weapon and essentially pioneer the weapon beyond how most people see it. Probably my own most relatable experience with that was when I used bloblobber for a long time in high level competitive play. Most people see the weapon as a passive weapon that sits back and spams paint all game, but I also was fascinated by it being the only slosher capable of killing in one slosh and that motivated me to push an aggressive side of the weapon that threatened fast kills off of one-burst shots but that could also pivot to that passive painting playstyle whenever necessary, so the end result was my bloblobber play being far more flexible and consistent than everyone else's. Making that work consistently is extremely challenging though and takes a very long time, which is why I think you have to keep yourself motivated with new ideas to try as you keep practicing since results won't come for a while.

I use Classic Squiffer and have since Splatoon 2. Point Sensor is essentially part of my playstyle and allows me to anticipate opponents ahead of time. I play a “tactical playstyle mixed with quick reactions”, if that’s a a thing lol. But It’s refreshing to see people give it a chance. I was thinking of doing a guide on point sensor but you summed up what I wanted to say perfectly.
