The black flag gained more notoriety after the hurricane season where Irma and Maria hit the island, as a sign of mourning the loss of life the hurricane brought due to incompetence and politics. It also represents disobedience , resistance and a gesture of supporting the independence for the island. As you know the U.S. present at that time was Trump it took weeks for help to get to the island, when there where hundreds of boats waiting to give the much needed help we needed from other neighboring countries but they weren’t allowed … due to the Jones act and the white savior complex the U.S. usually has in times of need.

You’re white just not American white. You’re Dominican white. Ppl need to stop associating white and black with American. You’re a European from Dominican. Dominican Republic had colonizers and enslaved Africans as well. Y’all can’t think those ppl disappeared and the only ones left are American. You also can’t compare yourself to America we have ALOT of immigrants from EVERYWHERE coming in the thousands every year that are full one race but Americans who’ve been here for centuries are not
@XAVE3252 ай бұрын
I feel like I partially agree with you but I'm also confused? I am American lol I was born here but yes I'm not anglo white. "American white" is just European whites who immigrated to America?
@Mindyourbusiness7622 ай бұрын
@@XAVE325 American meaning your family has been here for hundreds of years not someone who is 1st 2nd or 3rd generation. Americans who have been here for hundreds of years are not one single race we are mixed race. If you ask a true white American where there ppl are from they have no idea just like black Americans because it’s so many possibilities. They have an idea but not 100% sure. In your case your family is from Dominican Republic even tho you are mixed as we are. DNA wise you are more European than anything else. You share experiences with a person of European descent historically and everyday living and moving in the world. If we were to go back in time you would not be an enslaved person. Everyday living meaning not having to think about discrimination because of your skin, not understanding struggles of hair, not relating not being able to connect with a African spirit that really people of visible/majority can understand. So even tho you are Dominican you will never fully understand or relate to a black person from Dominica. Same as white and black Americans we are all Americans and share cultures but it’s some experiences we will never understand

My facial features, thick black hair, and thick black eyebrows are a dead giveaway, but since I’m light skinned, I get white hurled at me occasionally. We all should have the option of dating whatever race we want. However when a person specifically excludes those of their own race/ethnicity I scratch my head. It seems a rejection of one's parents. As you say we do not know the motivation. My friend who was of Germanic background would not date white women. He married a thin Chinese-American lady. He said white women get fat after marriage thus he preferred Asian women because they stay thin. Like I said, who knows the motivation.
@XAVE3255 ай бұрын
Yeah everyone's motivation is different and personal dating experiences shape people differently. Aw man that's kind of sad to hear about your friend because real love and marriage should definitely be about love, no ones looks stay the same as they get older and honestly I would not like if my wife said to me that she wouldn't be with me if I got fat. What if I got hit by a bus and my appearance completely changed, it would be horrible if my wife left me because of that. I hope your friend truly experiences unconditional love

Oh my gosh! here we go again: Ignorance is bliss! Due to racial tensions in the Dominican Republic and the widespread denial of their true heritage, I wish to highlight a study conducted by several esteemed universities. Notably, the following institutions were involved: 1. Ruprecht Karls University Heidelberg (1964): A renowned institution with a rich history in medical research. 2. Peking University: Ranked 30th globally for molecular research. 3. McGill University: Known for its excellence in genetic studies. 4. Utrecht University: A leading center for genetics research in the Netherlands. 5. Imperial College London: Conducted a study on Dominican and Haitian DNA. Now, let’s delve into a bit of history. When enslaved individuals were brought from Africa, their journey included stops at U.S. ports, where entire families were disembarked from ships. Some families were sold within the United States, while the ships continued to the Caribbean. There, brothers, cousins, uncles, and aunts were also sold. We administered a questionnaire to each participant, covering various aspects such as their name, self-identified race, and family history. Surprisingly, individuals with darker skin tones-akin to what we commonly associate with black ethnicity in Europe-often identified themselves as white, Indian, or belonging to other racial categories. Conversely, those with fair skin consistently considered themselves as white. Additionally, there were individuals who met the European standard of being white, characterized by features such as blue eyes, blond hair, and thin lips. This topic is quite intricate, but I’ll simplify it. Among individuals with black complexions in the Dominican Republic (DR), approximately 90% had ancestral ties to the South Sahara, Morocco, and even Egypt. Surprisingly, Spanish blood (from Spain) played a negligible role, and there was no discernible Native American heritage. Now, let’s delve into those who self-identified as white but do not align with this category based on their physical characteristics. These individuals exhibit very light skin and curly hair, and their ancestral roots trace back to Morocco, Egypt, the Sub Sahara, Iran, and India. Interestingly, there is no Spanish lineage within this group. Next, we turn our attention to another cohort-those with olive skin and very straight, fine hair. Their genetic composition includes contributions from India, Native American ancestry, 20% Malaysia, and Arabian roots. These individuals, known as the Original Dominicans, share a lineage with Native Americans from the southern region of Florida. Their ancestors have resided in the Americas for generations. Haiti: We found Dominicans who consider themselves Indio share more Sub-Saharan DNA than other African Americans in the USA, The reason for this, is due to the intermix with white. Their DNA is found in blacks from: Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Puerto Rico. These Dominicans are mostly of Sub-Saharan African descent, mixed with Moroccan, Sub Saharan in Africa DNA. Haitian DNA is more prevalent in the Dominican Republic. When the country separated, some Haitians stayed behind-brothers, sisters, fathers, cousins, uncles, and aunts were forced to return. We’ve discovered many Haitians and Dominicans who are third or fourth cousins. Additionally, we’ve identified great-aunts, great-great-grandmothers, and their generations with DNA connections in the Dominican Republic; some of these individuals have Caucasian ancestry. It’s essential to recognize that many Haitians have mixed French heritage. Despite their black appearance, the chances of them having a Caucasian child are one in four. Interestingly, we’ve encountered truly Caucasian individuals in the interior of both the Dominican Republic and Haiti. These families have not intermarried with other racial groups. Their lineage remains 100% Spanish, mixed with Ashkenazi Jewish heritage. Our study reveals that they intermarry with third cousins, first cousins, and even fourth cousins. Now that you have this crucial information, consider why educated Dominicans who attended school in the USA or Europe-since grade school-are generally tolerant of Haitians. They’ve studied history, visited museums, delved into genetics, and learned about slavery, transportation, and the names of ships and ports of entry. This understanding leads us to assert that racism stems from ignorance of the facts. Reflect on the past: when slaves arrived in Florida and other US ports, your father and brother were sold there. Then, in Hispaniola, they sold your other brother, cousins, uncles, and aunts. The journey continued to Jamaica, where more family members were sold. Most significantly, in Haiti, your roots lie. Denying your race and ancestry by perpetuating stereotypes is counterproductive.
