8:01 Aang is only able to fly with the aid of his glider, and it’s the same for all the other Airbenders. If he falls, he can sort of levitate a little to slow down his descent, but that’s it. He can’t just fly around in the air like Superman. 16:37 The only new characters that were created for the live action are Suki’s Mother and Aydo(That guy who Sokka put in charge of the Southern Water Tribe). Other than that, some characters have more expanded roles in the live action (like Avatar Kiyoshi showing up to fight off the Fire nation), or were completely excluded from the live action like Haru. 17:53 In the live action, they combined a bunch of different characters into the Omashu section due to the shorter amount of episodes.

The Live Action did a good job adding a great scenes that was not in the cartoon and expanding the Avatar universe, but changed the essence of the characters in the process. The actors did a great job but when you have seen the show multiple times and know the characters and their development, watching the live action and how they mixed up all the stories it's a bit disappointing.

I think the comment Zuko made to Aang about Aang not knowing his parents because he was raised by monks in the second episode is a hint that there's no backstory on them. I think Air Nomad parents don't raise their own children and children are raised communally instead so his birth parents wouldn't have any role in his life anyway. Regarding some of the hate the live action receives from fans of the original, I think I can summarize some it: (the list is not in any particular order and not an exhaustive list) 1. Katara's personality is gutted and she basically has no personality in the live-action. 2. They rely too much on exposition in a way that is insulting the audience's intelligence. One of the frequent examples is character's saying how they feel when acting and context should be enough for the audience to get that. 3. This is related to #2 that there is a very noticeable difference in the writing quality. The dialog is a glaring example of the poorer quality writing. It's to the point where some of the dialog is cliche and like cartoon villainy. 4. They focused too much on aesthetics and not enough on substance and theme. The way the Air Nomad genocide was portrayed is an example: they went out of their way to make it "cool" (one of the actors even described it as such) when it was actually a slaughter of a pacifistic monastic society (airbenders primarily focus on evasive and defensive strategies not offensive because they are against violence. This is one factor that makes the genocide an even more atrocious act). 5. They removed a lot of the character progression arcs of the main characters and removed much of their complexity which made them more relatable. For instance, Katara just teaching herself waterbending is not very compelling and and completely unrelatable- I mean why did she ever need to leave the South Pole if she could just teach it to herself. In the original, Katara is desperate to learn waterbending and has to fight for the opportunity, including maybe going too far and putting the whole group in danger because of it. Aang's feelings of guilt are more justified in the original. They butchered Katara and Sokka's father in the live-action; in the original, their father provided a perfect contrast of loving and supportive father in contrast Zuko's abusive father. 6. Too much unnecessary inclusion of things from different seasons. 7. For me personally, Zuko's fight with his father completely undermines Ozai's credibility as the main villain (he's shown losing to a freaking 12-13 y.o. in the first season. It's a terrible way to hype up your main baddie); it contradicts an important character trait of Zuko from the original- that's he's not a prodigy like his sister so he can't rely on natural talent and he has to struggle and fight for things); the way it is done in the original really highlights the child abuse aspect of the situation (it's a vulnerable defenseless child and an abusive parent period. There's no extra fluff to it that muddies the waters). 8. There was one Iroh line that was really triggering for me in that it was so out of character, the one where he tells the soldier something on the lines of, "my nephew has gone through more than you". The only instance he does make a snide comment is after Zhao tries to kick Zuko in the back after the Agni Kai, otherwise he doesn't snap back or make insulting comments like that. I mean Iroh's the kind of guy who calls the man using swords to force Iroh to dance and sing and then throws Iroh a gold coin, a "kind man".

First of all I really appreciate you taking your time to write this. Thank you. Secondly, I do agree with all your points, but as for someone who watched the live action first, it didn't feel that bad. Now that I am watching the cartoon, obviously this feels superior to the live action. But imagine someone who'll only watch live action and will never see the cartoon, for them I think its not that bad. So I don't like to compare them, I think the Live Action acts as a new path for new viewers (like me) towards the OG Cartoon if that makes sense.
@solonec.4285
@solonec.4285 28 күн бұрын
@@riotr3x I agree with you that from a more neutral standpoint the live action is okay. It's an unfortunate consequence that people who watched the original will start comparing the two even unintentionally. Especially, for those who are very familiar with the original show, comparisons sort of come to mind automatically. One criticism I've heard and I agree with is that instead of retelling "Avatar: the Last Airbender", they would have been better off doing a show about a different past avatar. That way, it's set in the same world but it's still a completely new story and new content. Although there would still be some points to compare, there wouldn't be as much expectation for it match so much with the original. Fans of the show have been asking for more new content for years and it would still function as a way to draw in new viewers to the Avatar universe so it seems like a lost opportunity. I think people are tired of remakes in general and there's just this overall sentiment that remakes have become lazy way not to come up with something original and take advantage of existing fanbases and their sense of nostalgia to make a quick buck.

Appa’s age is 6/106 Aang’s age is 12/112 Katara’s age is 14 Sokka’s age is 15, his name is pronounced Sah-Kah Zuko’s age is 16 Uncle Iroh’s age is 58-63 (age never given) The bending's are based on real world martial arts. The Bending List is in Avatar cycle order. Fire bending is based on Northern Shaolin. Fire Nation culture largely draws from Imperial Japan, as per behind the scenes interviews on the originally released dvds. Air bending is based on Circle motions of Baguazhang. Air Nomad culture is based on Tibet, as per behind the scenes interviews on the originally released dvds. Water bending is based on Tai Chi. The Water tribes are based on Inuit culture, as per behind the scenes interviews on the originally released dvds. Earth bending is based on the martial art of Hung Gar. The Earth Kingdom is largely based on Chinese culture, as per behind the scenes interviews on the originally released dvds. All music in this show is original, and was created for this show. The soundtrack is beautiful, incredible and perfectly suited to the show.. The Arrow tattoo's on Aang's head, arms, legs, and back are the proof of fact markings, on his body, which directly indicate that he has reached and obtained / is the full rank of an Airbending Master. Appa's arrow is just Appa’s fur pattern. Most creatures in this world are made up of 2 or more animals from our world. Appa is a combination of both a bison and manatee. “…Power in fire-bending comes from the breath. Not the Muscles. The breath becomes energy in the body. The breath energy then extends past the limbs and becomes fire. …” [Uncle Iroh episode 1 Avatar the Last Airbender] Fire Benders create fire by igniting their own breath energy as it extends past their limbs. Focused breath energy enables the fire bender to control the created fire. Unfocused fire creation is dangerous, wild, and destructive. This is an American cartoon, which originally aired on Nickelodeon beginning in 2005, so approximately 19 years ago on February 22nd 2005. (Netflix launched the live action version on February 22nd 2024 in honor of its 19th year anniversary. which covers season 1 and some scenes from Season 2 Episode 2. I think they swapped Season 1 Ep 6, into season 2 of the live action, while moving season 2 Episode 2 into season 1 of the live action to keep the Omashu events together, and keep Season 2 of the Live action Earth-bending focused.) Avatar the last Airbender is not an anime. English is the original audio, and the creators are Americans. This show is NOT dubbed at all. Season 1 has 20 episodes originally aired in 2005-2006; Season 2 is also 20 episodes and aired from 2006-2007; Season 3 has 21 episodes and aired from 2007-2008. When watching on Netflix, all the multi-part episodes tend to be combined, so you will see a different episode count. The finale is 4 episodes (I.e. episodes 58-61; aka season 3 episodes 18-21)which all aired as a single 93 minute movie, in primetime, in 2008. It was a HUGE event on Nickelodeon. Still one of their highest watched airings ever! Nothing, is superlative in this show. The amount of tie ins, call backs, and fore shadowing, which occurs is astounding. Every time you watch this show, you the viewer, will see more connections, more fore shadowing and nuance. This show is amazing to the 9th degree, in that way. Enjoy the journey. No filler in this show. Only episode 11, the least liked episode of the series could possibly be considered filler, but even this episode gets a call back in episode 57 (I.e. Season 3 episode 17). Episode 11 is disliked because it was the episode, after its original airing, which aired whenever, and I mean whenever, there was no new episode for a given week. Fans all excited for a new Episode tune in and groan, grumble, grumble, it is episode 11, again, and again, and again, ad infinitum!!! It was as if Nickelodeon was playing a Groundhog Day movie joke on Avatar the Last Airbender Fans. Episode 11 is fine on first viewing, or on a full rewatch of the series. It is the most stand alone episode of the series, but the fact that it was ALWAYS the episode aired, when there was no new episode for a given week, caused fans to see it as the worst episode of the series, and dislike it because of how often it was aired and used by Nickelodeon. Part of the major excitement for Episode 12, was IT was episode 12! Finally!!! Also Episode 12 is one of the best episodes of season 1, and in the top 10, for me, of the whole show. I can not express how happy and blown away by Episode 12, all the fans were, when it finally, aired originally. Some of that was Hooray!, We finally are getting a new episode, continuing the story, and part was Episode 12 itself in its own amazing way. Enjoy the ride. This show is fantastic. The live action created Aang’s backstory. Starting with Aang being found in Ice is where the original animated story from 2005 starts. Since you have seen the Netflix Live Action story just understand this animation is how the story of book 1 was originally presented.

No. Muzan didn’t even move but he elongated his nails, why would be elongate his nails if he just blows up the place? Especially since we know Muzan avoids confrontation with the slayers and making such a loud, flashy scene wouldn’t be the way to go about avoiding his opps. You clearly can’t think straight. Also, HE’S LITERALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE EXPLOSION! Why would he want to ruin himself like that?
