Thanks brothaman! Good to have a refresher/reminder now and again! 🤙 I tell ya what’s my least favorite, is doing the ever more narrow truggy bodies upper window trim.. Even if I had small hands-it’s such a bear to get in there without being on an angle lol.. any tricks for that situation? Thanks for sharing, and the killer content as always!

Can you explain the difference between using hot air and cool air? I’m new to painting and had a problem after I backed my body in white and the window masks didn’t want to come off clean.
@bashtux14 ай бұрын
Are you just spraying one thick coat total on the bodies? Bitty says to spray 2-3 coats… the main issue I have is I’m doing small qty (2 shells) at a time and having to wait for the mask to fully dry between coats takes forever

@MarcMcGurren5 ай бұрын
So sorry for my late reply. I think I would just use black/white markets. Maybe silver (for the black), but use the white markers where the black will go, and then the black markers where the white paint will go. Good luck!

wash body- dry body - apply several thin coats of liquid mask- use hair dryer to speed up dry time between coats, mark design on body, with pen , use new sharp blade to cut out design. BRO, MADE A 15.30MINS VIDEO, that should be like 2 mins. thumbs up for effort though.

Gday from Israel. What paint do you use? I can only get pro line paint in Israel and I am not happy with it. What paint do you recomend? Great video. Thanks.
@MarcMcGurren5 ай бұрын
Greeting from the US Cass! Proline is usually pretty good, but here in the USA, I bet 75% of my paint is Createx. Or Vallejo is readily available overseas, so that might be the best way to go. Wicked line by createx is great too.

i think i will buy an airbrush set to paint my bodies. i also dont like putting on the bittydesign liquid mask with a brush, because it gets to thick on some places. is it possible to spray the liquid mask with a normal airbrush (0.2 - 0.4mm needle) or should i use a bigger needle or just open the trigger to max or use a special head that sprays very wide?
@MarcMcGurren6 ай бұрын
Hey Nico. If you do brush, best way to do it is 5-6 super light coats. Helps with keeping the mask more uniform As far as spraying, you will HAVE to have a different brush. I use an HVLP gun from Harbor Freight and costs $25 or so. You will also need a "normal size" airbrush hose, not the small hose we use for airbrushing as it can't output enough air to spray the thick mask.

How much time between coats?
@MarcMcGurren6 ай бұрын
Lots of factors on that, as it depends on how thick you sprayed on the ambient temperature, but usually it can take around 5-10 hours to fully dry. The entire body should be translucent pink. If certain spots are opaque and a brighter pink, its not fully cured. Hope that helps
@MikeyB-Rod6 ай бұрын
@@MarcMcGurren it does and it doesn't haha. I'm getting wildly different opinions on how long between coats. Some say spray the second coat just as the first tacks up. Others say wait 3+ days between coats. Then I have people saying 45-60 minutes. I'm spraying indoors, 70-72 degrees..no humidity
@MarcMcGurren6 ай бұрын
@@MikeyB-Rod I gotcha - plenty of ways to make it work. I do know Stefano (owner of Bitty Design) recommends it to fully cure before you spray the next one. Sometimes if its about half way cured and I know I won't need the body for a few days, I will go ahead and spray the next coat as I know I won't be touching that body for a bit, that will give it plenty of time to cure. Here is my usual process....spray a coat in the morning. In the event its sunny and nice outside, I will go place the bodies outside to let the sun help cure it. Right now in the winter, can't do that. So I just leave the bodies in my paint room. A box fan does help a little, but not a ton. From there, later that afternoon/evening, I will go spray the 2nd coat. By this time, the body should be 90% dry. Maybe a few spots aren't cured which is no biggie. But I spray that 2nd coat, let dry overnight, and *usually its cured by morning. I have had great success with this way, No matter how you do it, it all works. Just has to be fully cured and a thick enough coat to make it work

Can you do the same with flip colour paint ? As with flip paint it needs black backing so would the hide the maker lines. Or would you do the marker lines in say white ?
@MarcMcGurren7 ай бұрын
If its a lighter color flip change, I think black and white would be fine. The black is to back the color flip, so you should be fine to see the black markers as long as the main color isn't too dark

I have been watching these in the background while working. I noticed the Iwata your using really seems to let out some paint. I use a HP-CS currently and I can never seem to get that much work flow to come out of mine.
@MarcMcGurren8 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. And the HP-CS *Should be able to shoot out enough paint. What brand of paint are you using? PSI? It sounds like either (a) the paint is too thick (90% of all createx/wicked) paint should spray fine. PSI should be 30-40 for normal sprays (less for tight fades). I sometimes have to pull my needle back 1mm and lock it in, so the nozzle is a little bigger. The only other thing is the HP-CS's nozzle might need a good cleaning

The bigger of the 2 knobs on the back of the gun limits how much paint comes out so you dont have to woory about pulling the trigger back too far! Just screw it in for less paint and screw it back out for more paint and the small knob adjusts the size of the spray pattern
@NaughtyGoatFarm9 ай бұрын

Good video, but needs to be quicker for the amount of content. We want to know how thick to apply, how many Coates and how long between Coates. Then when can we paint.
@MarcMcGurren10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. As far as length of video, I totally understand, but I do this for fun and not looking to be youtube famous, just like helping folks when I can....so I just setup my phone, hit record, and then upload. This one is only 8 minutes, so I feel like its not long, goes through the steps, and breaks it down. To answer your questions: thickness - 2-3 medium coats. Put other coats on once the previous coat is fully dry (all parts of liquid mask are translucent and not opaque). Then once the last coat of mask is translucent, you can paint
