The hull on mine is crudely made, but then I saw the same looking tug many years ago on eBay or KZfaq, so I thought it might be based on a kit. Not sure.

55 psi is a tone for the size of that barrel, it only looks about the size of a coke can, maybe a bit larger

Not sure on that particular boat, but most of the steam models run for about 15 to 20 minutes I'm told

This is a beautiful tug and scratch built model. I harbour a copy of its plan drawn by the renowned Jim Pottinger that once appeared many years ago in a _Model Boats_ edition that I luckilly spotted and bought at a newspaper shop when I spent my holiday in the UK.

Looked up history of Dauntless. Think I remember the hull design was PT Boat. Another Dauntless on KZfaq was well up on plane. Wondered if that was scale speed or if the Dumas running gear was providing that speed.

I have one of these as well, I build it decades ago when I was 14 or so. It was not an easy model to build, but I took my time and it came out great as well. I just Love RC Model ships and the peaceful times building them. Such a shame they discontinued that model because of stupid politics. The original ship is in a museum, lets hope it does not get scrapped like a whole bunch of ships of the very same museum. I would not mind finding another RAU IX model to build a second version showing the ship as a "Vorpostenboot" as it was during WW2. Best Regards from Anchorage, Alaska

The four-mast bark Viking was built for Danish sail training in 1907. she made her last voyage in 1946. she was then a stationarly training school in Goteburg, Sweden. Today she is a vouth hostel similar to the ship Af chapman in Stockhholm. The dead-eyes are out of period for her. TM who likes steel sailing vessels. PS She was in Australia many times.

I have a video coming out today that has two Dauntless launch's together on the pond. The light blue one is running Dumas gear and the dark blue has after market gear.

i need to do this sometime, strip a 4 stroke down light as possible, water cool it, bigger carb and porting will make it scream. There are 4 strokes that spin as fast as a 2 stroke. Also you can make it turn faster as well by machining the flywheel down if you water cool it

Hi Jeff. Engine is a PMResearch 2AM . Suits the boat well as would a PM 8. Boiler is 3". Hull is about 40"LOA with a beam of 11 3/4". So far we have taken 10 products out of the mould for guys in the model boat club. Bare mould cost is AUD200 although I think postage of the hull to USA would be exorbitant. Regards John W
