So wonderful to see Ruth and Axel who had faith in me to develop the Bronx River Restoration Environmental Art Center in 1980. Featured in the film was the Bronx River Fedtival that Norma Torres organized the music for and me the arts. She get Machito! To play and I asked artist Rolando Briseno to create the boat making workshop seen in the film. On a personal note it was here I met Charles. Biasiny Rivera who led a photography experience, taking portraits of local participants with his view camera. We were married in 1988! After I left my role as Director of the BRR EAC, the foundation was in place for the next phase for the establishment of the art center as a non profit 501c3 that was named Bronx River Art Center which continues the tradition of using studio art as a high quality community art center that has gone beyond expectations. My heart remains with the original purpose explained by Ruth and Axel, that is to embrace the Bronx River as a site of environmental preservation and inspiration for creativity and community wellness. WHAT ABOUT THE STINKY WATER SMELL & MOSQUITOES ??
@adkforever69974 жыл бұрын
The stinky water smell will be reduced once the river gets cleaner and greener. This has been happening now for the last few years, as volunteers clean up the river. The mosquitoes will always be around, but with more birds and fish repopulating the once foul waters of the Bronx River that have become cleaner, the mosquitoes are being eaten by the newly restored wildlife, so the pests are kept in check.
