This is hands down the best breakdown of Gilmore Girls on KZfaq and I've watched a lot!!! It's crazy to me that you don't have 100,000 subscribers with this kind of quality content!

First of all I love your knowledge and the way you criticize movies. For the movie American Fiction I disagree with you as I do think the story is very actual with all these fake activism in Holliwood. Other than that, I just subscribed to your channel and I will keep enjoying your content. Well done! 😊

Is that Greta Gerwig in the park scene where Greg is sitting deflated in the classroom? She’s sitting to the left with a huge smile on her face. Apologies for the asking this silly question considering your savvy breakdown of Succession with Shakespearean influences.

I disagree with you at 50:33 I think all his life after visyers regrets this choice. It rottens his soul the same way his leprosy does to his body. He even says to rhaenyera that he never should have tried for a son since he already had her . He spent every day regretting his decision and definitely does not feel about his wife the same way daemon does about his. He hated her because she could not be controlled by him and while I’m sure visyers isn’t a feminist he respected his wife way more than daemon but other than that I love the video

I still do not understand this series, nor will I watch it. Is this just post-apocalyptic porn for mostly white women? I just don't find it relatable in any meaningful way. Last of Us had a lot of problems, but at least it was relatable. So only 1% live, and all the actors survive? And their art is relevant? That alone gives me problems.

Viscerys did not take the decision to kill Aemma lightly. The maester told him that he could either try to save the baby or lose both the mother and the child. While the scene was horrific, Aemma would have died anyway and there would have been no chance of an heir. I feel like people get so mad at him for making what seems like the only decision.

So here's a storytelling ❓️ back to the OG novels. If Worms & Spice exist only on Arrakis, how did the BG's get their hands on a maker to create the bile needed to then create the Water of Life?? Did the Fremen have a black market arrangement with the BGs??

@@marinathewise9410 When Jeven walked through the apartment next to Frank's with the broken window and looked over the edge, just as he enters and looks at the piano there is sheet music for the piece she is always trying to play. She says "I haven't been able to play it since my dad died" when presented with a CD of it and the sheet music has IMPOSSIBLE written across it.

GG Character writing is a bit similar to SATC character writing. The reason why the main characters are at first side so easy to identify with is that they have their flaws. They represent a dream world, all of us at first side would love to live in. Lorelai having everything kind of, she is independent but has a net of wealth protecting her and her daughter, as Carrie has. She lives in a New York dream world, where she can achieve an expensive apartment just while writing a few rhetorical questions once a week and has a net of wealth as well, represented by her understanding friends Sam, Charlotte and Miranda. But rewatching the shows show us their flaws in a way, that reminds us, that they have consequences, since we know how things will end up. Carrie loses everything in the end, so does Rory in a way. It is like a dream not ending up in a good way, and what makes us feeling bad about it, when rewatching these shows is, that we cannot forget about the endings. We cannot be catched the same way by this dream world, like we did in the first place, because the hope, that everything will end up in a good way, has been taken away from us. We know for sure, that these fantastic dreams of "having it all" never will become true and there is not "this one" fairy tale happy ending. I also think it is a way of projecting something we dislike about ourselves onto the main characters. Like we knew from the beginning, that this dream could never become true and instead of hating us for having been naive in that way, we project the disliking on those main characters Carrie and Rory.

In descending order: Maestro Barbie Killers of the Flower Moon (Had a very hard time sitting thru those.) This group has my great affection: The Holdovers (a nice addition to our Christmas collection) American Fiction ( I teach lit &write &my mom was stricken with Alzheimer’s. And is lovely satire, so….😊) The films that define pure artistic Cinema: the Zone of Interest Past Lives Anatomy of a Fall Far and away the best films that make watching them an EXPERIENCE: Poor Things Oppenheimer Sensory overload in IMAX- Wow. Phenomenal performances Poor Things story is an original iteration of Frankenstein with an absurd twist yet with an underlying theme of a woman’s remarkable transformation from ignorant bliss to fully realized modernity. I adore Lanthimos work and Emma Stone was enchanting, just delightful. Oppenheimer’s biography as you know from the book is terrific Nolan adaptation. How he pares the dense encyclopedia of details into the core essential of a remarkable man’s life is extraordinary. His screenplay is brilliant. There is not a single performance in the humongous cast that isn’t outstanding. The cinematography, the score, the visual effects and editing are overwhelming, magnificent. Even tho we read the book and the equally engrossing 150 pages of Notes, we find the non-linear timeline enlivens the density of the text. The depiction of how Jean Tatlock dies piques our interest. Her role is essential in shaping another level of Oppie’s character. And Kitty’s role is essential in much the same way. There is no need to expand these women’s roles and I’m a little annoyed to hear so much complaining about the lack of their character development. Everything in this story reveals what kind of man Oppenheimer was. The most important women in his life expose his complexity, naïveté, and arrogance in pivotal scenes. We don’t need more exposition. Hubs (who hadn’t read the book) and I had to wait TWO weeks to get open seats and we saw it twice more. Still the same chilling effect. We are very much still in a fragile nuclear age. Maybe young people will learn the terrible effects of believing MAD to be only an improbable consequence. Oppenheimer believed, obtuse as he was, such a devastating weapon, monitored by the international scientific community, would be the deterrent to end war forever. 70 years later we have sidestepped the agreement to have nuclear disarmament and the arms race continues. How does this film not scare the shit out of us? 8 films can be enjoyed on the small screen but these two are on a whole higher level and must only be shown on the big screen. Let’s hope for some re-releases over the years. They are, as absurdist comedy and bone-chilling drama, films for the ages.

Can't agree about Chani. She's not our "in" - she's just a truly improved character. Paul is going to love the one person with discernment. Because she sees through him, we know her love is true. Book-Chani believes he is the messiah. It's a gross dynamic between them.

Great critique of a great film! You put into words why some parts of the writing felt off to me, how they flattened a lot of the book's nuance around Paul and the prophecy, as well as the use of characters like Chani or Jessica to symbolically represent some of the book's plentiful internal monologue, to mixed effect. My problem with Chani wasn't that she became disillusioned with Paul, but that the way it was done felt inauthentic in the film's own setting. She already knew the prophecy was a scam, and this was apparently a common belief in her region. Yet we don't see serious religious conflict between Fremen on this issue (Chani and Stilgar still happily live in the same tribe), and it seems weird for such an otherwise intense culture to treat such a crucial matter so trivially. It makes Chani seem more like an outsider in her own world than she should be, and as you said, this could've been handled more skillfully while also making her a more dynamic character (e.g. Paul confiding in her about his own inner conflict and the truth of the BG manipulation). I also thought the stark north-south divide made the southern "fundamentalists" seem more like a plot device than people, and an unnecessary extra layer of complexity on an already complex world. The message of being wary of fanaticism and charismatic leaders would also be more effective if it was clearer that the people going on the jihad aren't just some vaguely evil-coded anonymous mass somewhere else, but the people we spent the first half empathizing with; yes, Stilgar does serve that purpose to an extent, but I think there's still a clear distinction between what are effectively the "good" and "bad" Fremen, which works to the detriment of the story's own message.
