Can you tell the name of the tune? It might be on a paper label under plastic, on the left side.Vicente Llinares of Barcelona, started his miniature “Hurdy Gurdy” barrel pianos, named Faventia, in the 1950'ies, and ended around 1978. The largest of the two miniature models has 32-notes and 6 melodies on each barrel. Enrique Salva made the same standard rolls, but Antonio Martin barrels are not compatible. Well tuned, they are quite a thrill, and a true sound-reflection of the full size street barrel pianos in every big town around 1900. It is a very heavy instrument with a cast iron frame. Faventia supplied it with a green handcart with two wooden wheels, so it could be pulled by a dog goat or small donkey. Faventia did, deplorably, not mark the barrels with the melodies, sometimes not even barrel-number. Instead there was a loose paper label with 6 titles and the barrel number on its backside, to temporarily screw to the piano, when playing those. In the few cases where the label is not lost, it may lie with the wrong barrel... There existed also a spiral arranged barrel type, that could play one six times longer tune. I HAVE NOTED THE SIX MELODIES OF ONLY A DOZEN BARRELS, AND AM INTERESTED TO GET MORE Faventia tunes FROM KZfaqRS. Is it for sale? Melody 1: La Paloma / The dove / Die Taube / La colombe. Mexico. Melody 5: Blue Danube / An den schönen blauen Donau. - Johann Strauss. Built in Barcelona 1950-60's by Vicente Llinares. This is a mini. I have a bigger, circa 60 cm, playing 6 melodies on each exchangeable wooden pinned barrel, by moving it 1 millimetre sideways after a full round, thus 5 silent melodies between the keys Is it for sale? Can sound better, if tuned with Electronic, chromatic "guitar tuner". Roland von Malmborg, Sweden.
