I just got one delivered. I have yet to start messing with it. I started looking online for an owner's manual because I am at work and 90% of the time there is nothing to do BUT shop and watch KZfaq. So, I want to ask you some things about this motor. Did you start out 50:1 on the fuel? Because the manual said something about 25:1 also. Not sure how that works yet. Did you have to do some test (break it in) runs? I saw one video where one guy had to break it in for like about 22 hours in different speeds. Do you mix the fuel or is there a gas tank and a separate oil tank? I have a fuel tank for a boat I found at my father in laws OLD shop. Just need a sending unit. Also, what size fuel line do i need with my tank?
@CaptainLou944 күн бұрын
@@richierasmussen3086 I have since sold the motor with my boat but here is what I remember. The first 10 hours (break in period) the fuel should be mixed 25:1. You don’t want to go full throttle in the first 10 hours. 1/4-1/2 throttle for the first 5 hours and then 1/4-3/4 throttle for the next 5 hours. After the initial break in you can start running 50:1 fuel mix and open it up to full throttle safely. I always kept the built in fuel tank on the motor full as a back up supply in case I ran out in my external tank. And for the external tank 5/16 fuel line with the primer bulb worked great. You can get one of those right on Amazon in your desired length. I would also go with the quicksilver 2 stroke oil. Very little smoke with that and the plug never fouled even with hours of trolling. I had a little over 100 hours on mine when I sold it. Also make sure the lower unit has gear oil in it. Mine didn’t come full from the factory. Change the gear oil after the first 10 hours of break in also. Take care of it and it will last you a long time 👍

Where do you find ref that it is a knock off Tohatsu/Nissan? I want to confirm if spare parts are interchangeable and if their external fuel tank works. Does the exhaust have a mini muffler and where does it come out? Also, what spark plug does it use? Thanks!

I just bought a used one in really good shape. Unfortunately, while washing it I discouvered that it must of spent sometime stored in the sun as there are what appear to be spider micro cracking on the bottom of the hull. I am guessing if it were a darker color it would not have this. Oh well its stored in the shade now and not likely to get bashed so it should last me for awhile.
