So Sweetwater is having a crazy sale on Behringer mixers right now. Was about to throw an X32 compact in my cart (as an alternative to my X32 rack and iPad and 22 inch touch screen. I use a DL32 stage box for that Midas flavor goodness), and watching you wrestle that big ol M32 helped me decide that I'm perfectly happy running shows on an iPad. Lol.

can’t really avoid a big console on bigger shows is the problem. normally anything bigger than a x32 compact i would ask for help putting it on something anyways

I never attempt to mix FOH via headphones, because that's obviously not what anyone else is hearing, but aside from checking sources I use them quite frequently in smaller venues to check what's stage volume and what's via the PA. You can better understand what changes to make when you know which components/proportions of the mix are actually going to be influenced by that. Things are what they are and they do what they do. It's really just about making solid decisions on the basis of that rather than rote learned rules of never do X, always do Y.

Mic placement with that headset was way off. Does he wear it like that all the time? If you’re having to cut that much off of it the problem definitely lies somewhere else in the system.
@DCAVL
@DCAVL 15 күн бұрын
Yeah this mic gets ran very loud on stage. Pastor will have a full choir, praise team, organ and entire band behind him. So we have to run it very loud for him and that means we have to eq it a lot. If this was at a speaking event we would not have to do all of this. Our band is not direct inputs so we have a lot of stage volume to fight.

@DustinRadtke 16 күн бұрын
Were those cabs just for show? That would be a nightmare to mix FOH competing with that.

They sound thin, which would expect from 6.5 speaker. Based on specs seem weak at 850 watts. Compared to RCA HDL6 and VRX at 1200 and 1400 respectfully

They are great for some things and not super Thin. We use mostly VRX for most of our shows now because they are better if you only run a couple boxes.

Love your videos man! Awesome set up you've got there. I'm a big fan of the midas and behringer desks, I've got an XR18 for my own work (mainly conference, weddings & livestreams). I use the X Edit desktop app to do a lot of the set up stuff, as I have channel presets for just about anything that I can load on there, which is a huge timesaver. You ever have much "Intermodulation" issues with wireless mics? I've been watching a few bands vlogs and they constantly have issues with their wireless mics dropping out.
@DCAVL
@DCAVL Ай бұрын
Thank you! Yeah, I need to make some more presets and have all of them on a flash drive and PC. I always just work as fast as I can. Yes, a couple of things. Separate wireless mics from in-ears. I’d say at least 6-10ft. If they are all in one rack you will have issues. I love Shure’s wireless workbench. Even if you don’t run Shure wireless it’s still a great tool to keep wireless up and running. Lastly, run your paddles on both planes. One verticle and one horizontal. So as the antennas move on stage there is always a paddle to receive or transmit.

Ya know, at this point its not you thats the problem its the Pastor, He does not undertsand the limitations of the equipment, ya cant just go willy nilly crank up the gain and run it hella hot cuz it just burns up preamps and distorts and at that point there just nothing you can do. Ive had another problem where i was working for a drama class, and the teacher didnt want the monitor on the front or the side of the stage so the only solution i had was to put it behind the satge facing the crowd, what that resulted in was that, the dancers on stage wanted more sound, which was not a problem in general, but the teacher said it was to loud in the room and i turned my PA all the way down so the only thing u heard was the monitor and said, "well thats your own placement fault so you gotta talk with the dancers and figure this out cuz my master is muted right now" Luckly in the end she just went with it but sometimes it dossent go that well

Ya know the main issue i have with these cheaper lights is that either they are just straight in cable, or in this case Powercon which issent the end off the world but id prefer true 1, And that they all are 3-pin which makes em a pain to use together with any kind setup that uses 5 pin like MA2, I have 2 pairs of Solena 12w Minipars, and no matter what i do with the fixture profile everything happens on a single DMX channel instead of across 8 DMX footprints as supposed. Not sayin all of them are like this but thats my main problems with these cheap ebay lights what not

@@DCAVL In comparison to the x32, it's better at almost everything - touch screen - different eqs and compressors models on each channel - fx don't take up any buses - 4 channel groups which also don't take up any buses - more flexibility with all busses being flexi meaning busses, groups or matrices - custom user fader layouts - screens above every fader, I mean the list goes on.
