I grew up and lived in New Castle for 30 years. PO Lunch was always a favorite. I have a recipe from an old St. Francis Hospital cookbook. It's similar to yours and very tasty. Some on here say that they have the original recipe. I doubt very much that any of us has it. Giving it away would not have been good for business. lol Luckily, there are many "almost Coney Island" chili recipes, that give those of us who live somewhere else, a taste of New Castle. Thanks for yours!

Awesome! I think you’re right about the recipes haha. PO lunch was always my favorite! Their gravy fries were incredible, too. Unfortunately, it has since changed to Lindy’s lunch and I just don’t like it quite as much.

I love these cool whip desserts and I really wish I could make them but we can’t buy cool whip in Australia. We have fresh cream that can be whipped but it’s not really the same thing. 😊

The original recipe does give instructions on how to make this with fresh whipped cream if you’re interested! (I do love how that tastes, too)

would cooking the pasta and cabbage together get it too sticky?

Whose chili do you like best? I used to really enjoy P.O. Lunch.
@JeffBishop_KB3QMT22 күн бұрын
I liked the chili from the White Front, but they were all basically the same whether you got them from the Hudson Lunch, Minuteman, Coney's, PO, Bills, or the others. I think Coney Island is the only place open any more.

Very helpful for when giving cherries to children that may not be able to figure out how to spit out the pit, or for freezing cherries for after going cherry picking or if prepping cherries for a recipe. 😊
@AnnesFamilyRecipe24 күн бұрын
Yes! Cherries aren’t just for snacking so it’s really helpful for prepping for a recipe! They even make a pitter that does about 6 at a time 🙌🏻

You should make a reduction out of the sauce that was left and then thicken it further with cornstarch to the consistency of BBQ sauce. throw in some honey or maple syrup and mix all the meat back in as you would with pulled pork. poor over rice or those noodles. You can use the leftovers as a stuffer for peppers. Mix in any left over rice or event the noodles and fill some sweet peppers and top it with a sweetened ketchup or bbq sauce and bake until the peppers are soft.(poke with toothpick.) NNom Nom

Thanks for sharing. Can I use butter or margarine in place of the oil?
@AnnesFamilyRecipeАй бұрын
Hi! I haven’t tried it, but I would be cautious because butter can burn easily. Avocado oil has a high smoke point meaning it can get really hot without burning. Maybe drizzle a little melted butter on it after for the flavor?
