@@flattopthunder5516 Yes, lots of practice! You are excellent. But I was wondering - did you just figure out the melody on your own or did you have something like a tab to move it along faster? And if it was a tab or something, where did you find it?

@@dimwitsadvocate6264 I have a hard time with tab. I don’t learn much from it. Instead what I did was familiarize myself with the blues scale, and the major and minor pentatonic scales. Then I listen to the song and find the notes within the scale, and then I “noodle around” with the notes until I create my own arrangement of the song I am learning. All of the songs on my channel are my own arrangements. If I use tab, then I am learning someone else’s arrangement. I would rather come up with my own. Hope that helps?

@@flattopthunder5516 Yes, this helps A LOT! You’ve given me the holy grail! You’re way of doing things probably also improves my ear. I’ll work with the scales and such and figure them out myself, and I’ll get better with time. Thank you so much!

Yes that makes a huge difference. Acoustic guitar and mandolin go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Very nice. I see its an old fiddle tune. Sounds not too far removed from traditional Briish Isles music with maybe a bit of Appalachian twist to it.
