Between Kefka's divine comedy final battle to Ex Death amalgamation of forms mixed up together. What is up with these grotesque looking final boss fights?

Tifa was knocked down, knocked away and wounded but not out there are many narratives where characters from similar and sometimes worse circumstances are still able to come out on top. At the very most the fighting just transitioned from one location to the next with Tifa getting back up quickly albeit wounded but still able to fight. As seen in DF 5 portrayed the capacity to fight hard still however she was now in a battle of endurance against an army from all directions as long as they kept coming they would of chipped her down eventually. Which would of been entirely different in a 1 on 1 where focus only needs to be on your opponent narrowing the path of victory to a single individual and not have to split your focus in all directions and angles from countless assailants who never stop coming. Some may think Hitomi gained the upper-hand even with the "handicap of being blinded. However in the DOA series she was taught how to fight blind, via touch by Hayate, just as well as she could with sight even better as considered by some. As for Tifa she blinded her opponent and would most likely believed she now had the upper-hand for what would be the rest of the fight. In other words Tifa underestimated Hitomi. This combined with not knowing about Hitomi could fight just as well as the least while blind alongside Hitomi switching to a defensive style martial art, Wing Chun, which Tifa was also not expecting and most likely messed with her fight rhythm seeing that Hitomi was fighting with her true canon style of karate throughout their fight up until that point. All of this combined created the perfect storm which allowed Hitomi to defend her self successfully and get counter hits in against Tifa. Tifa then doubled down on aggression letting her emotions take charge and ended up over extending when Hitomi was putting up a better fight than she expected. Which caused Tifa at points to throw out whatever she could without thinking. Which lead and we can see with the materia blasting exchange where Tifa over extended a blow that allowed Hitomi to grab hold then throw her. At this point Hitomi had attained the fights momentum from a Tifa. Tifa was at least attempting to adjust/escape the momentum and the current state of Hitomi seen as she tried to dodge to her left but caught but later rolled out of the combo meaning she was getting used to the rhythm of Hitomi's fighting style. As for the blow that sent Tifa flying it makes sense that when she felt and saw materia getting knocked out she got distracted, after rolling out of Hitomi's assault, due to the fear of losing the most important materia of all she had with her the white materia. Tifa was either wondering if it was knocked out and was on the ground somewhere or if Hitomi stole it during her attack. Which gave Hitomi ample time to build momentum for a very running powerful blow from behind. This blow coupled with crashing through a large wooden and iron door through fire which would splinter into sharp shrapnel cutting her all over leading to her wounded appearance. I do not believe all the damage from that blow was from Hitomi alone she did cause it to happen but the wounded appearance from Tifa would not have happened completely if not for what Hitomi knocked her through. Overall I do not believe Hitomi was handicapped due to being able to fight just as well blind with a defensive style against a Tifa who was underestimated at first, overextend aggressively later, fought without a clear head for the rest of this engagement, and distracted at the end. Some may think Hitomi is the better in hand to hand and Tifa relies too much on materia but in DF2 Tifa had the upper-hand in pure hand to hand combat throughout it when it came to it, yes she did use materia but there are pure no materia at all instances such as the trading and blocking of blows ending with a mutual punch in the beginning, in the background early on Tifa threw Hitomi to the ground when the latter picked up the former, Tifa dodging outmaneuvering Hitomi for a suplex into the ground, the drunken boxing 1 v 4 on the lava platform, and the tackle into the portal at the end. At the very least Tifa proved she is equal to Hitomi in hand to hand throughout with Hitomi blows being such as: traded punch in the beginning, a hook into Tifa after breaking her defense with an upper cut only after the latter got on the defensive due to Ayane's attacks, a high kick where she got help from Ayane as they went with a low kick on the lava platform, and a flying kick at the end. Granted Tifa did use materia but it was not at all the end all be all crutch used to be able to match Hitomi in hand to hand. Tifa's materia let her get some good hits in, keep up the pressure, strategically fight with allies, defend and keep the opponents guessing on what was going to be thrown out next. So it was not at all what allowed her to fight hand to hand with Hitomi when they had pure engagements in such. At the most Tifa edges out Hitomi in hand to hand as seen in DF 2 and Hitomi at the most matches evens out against Tifa in martial arts skill while blinded. Then in DF3 it was mainly hand to hand combat materia was used by Tifa but again it was used to add as much damage she could and keep up an offensive when the opponent was at a distance as one should in a any fight no more no less no. The materia was not what allowed Tifa to fight at Hitomi's level. Out of all the materia that hit Hitomi only a few actually landed while they were even in the mostly hand to hand fight between them. If materia truly gave Tifa an equal footing with Hitomi it would of been shown to be successfully landing more and be more effective over Tifa's martial arts blows. The materia that did land was few that being the fire materia during trading of punches, the flaming kicks, and Hitomi getting hit with poison to the torso and darkness to the head which caused blindness. This was also the first clean combo in that fight that caused a knocked down and painful recovery, granted it did have materia but in no way did it empower her fighting skill, speed, power or any facet of the execution of said combo. If Tifa went with any other materia that could add damage to her blows electric, fire, or ice or not use any at all it would of been a different fight altogether. Unluckily she chose the wrong materia strategy for the wrong opponent in which it would of worked on any of the other member of team DOA. Also judging by the first knock down combo Tifa landed if the fight carried on as it was Tifa could of well walked away with victory. The fight could of also ended when Hayate and his ninjas arrived forcing Tifa to flee successfully from Hitomi, Hayate and their ninja's via materia usage which is most likely or defeat them all using which is granted very less likely. Thus to build narrative drama, tension and establish a even more satisfying comeback for Tifa this had to happen the way it did. Narratively Monty(R.I.P.) needed to create a story structure where Tifa loses materia and is now on the back foot for later narrative elements to occur and for an even more epic satisfying rematch against Hitomi. If the fight did continue without interruption Tifa in my opinion still could have won if she gathered herself, attained a clear head a focused mind, and fought smarter not harder which she did not and which is what lead to her current state. For despite Hitomi having Tifa's materia I in my opinion does not know the exact materia Tifa, this may lead to hesitation on what materia to use and when due to multiple materia now flooding her head with their knowledge suddenly something she should be inexperienced in shorting through them mentally. So at the most she would be throwing things out not knowing how to maximize their effectiveness, like during the materia attack exchange which could lead to problems further down the fight. Granted Hitomi did use quake during the fight but it was in the moment and in haste and is a pretty straight forward materia. I believe she may be too inexperienced to fully utilize the materia Tifa brought to their upmost potential and the way materia works it may be too much information Hitomi has to short through to decide what materia to use on the fly. Tifa, however, does know what materia she brought to the fight full, has fought with it before thus more experience and potentially more than likely knows what to look out for and adjust accordingly/prepare for, be it something like a firaga coming her way or a longer casting materia such as haste. We also have to consider the fact of Hitomi potentially overdoing it with the materia like in DF2 where Tifa needed to recover stamina/mana from using many high potency materia in rapid succession to both defend and attack. This is extrapolation I will give you but I would not be surprised if Hitomi's body is not used to the drain of materia unlike Tifa due to prior experience and the former finds themselves with stamina depleting quicker than they thought. There is also the possible occurrence of what was once stolen can been stolen back for if the materia could be knocked out of Tifa it could be knocked out of Hitomi during said uninterrupted fight and using it to at the least give a better chance at fighting back for Tifa in her current state. Which is entirely possible during parts of the fight pertaining to hand to hand as typed before and given examples of Tifa is at the very least equal to Hitomi and edging her out at the most. As given to myself to believe from examples seen and noted in DF 2 and DF 3. There is also the factor that there is nothing else except a sudden addition Hitomi's character that could of been made by Monty(R.I.P.) that could throw Tifa for a loop. If Hitomi decides to blindfold herself or switch to Wing Chun or do a combination of both Tifa should now know the hard way to handle that better.

I kind of figured that was how she was set up for this fight. No one just enters this fight at 850 life points without javing some eay to heal. And Omegas meteor attack on her so low...i thought I was good with a 3 member party set up

You know you can cheese this fight with the healing/resurrection magic book? :D Cast 3 times and he is dead. It's hilarious and works also on the other "undead" or "demon" bosses.

I was playing this back in the 90s on the ps1 and I remember that i came up with a trick to have Angelo not learn all the special moves so invincible moon would proc more often. It made the game so much better!

I have played both 1 and 2. They are both great games. 2 filled in the details that were not in 1. That is what made both games good.

Magus was always a Vegeta for me. He has the same widow's peak as Vegeta, and is just a solo badass just like Vegeta. He does not in any way resemble Piccolo to me. He's always had a rough edge like Vegeta and absolutely no soft spot.

The game is more challenging the lower level you go. This person is very over-leveled for the ease of this boss. Like the older games the A.I. is fairly slower than a skilled human. Though that begs the question if the perfect game exists. I might know a few...
