Hey man, thanks for the video! Do you NEED to remove the drywall before putting trim over it? Or would it simply work to trim over the drywall?
@TrainingHandsAcademy2 күн бұрын
Hey bro. You can put it over the drywall, but I don't recommend it.
@livingincentraliowaКүн бұрын
@@TrainingHandsAcademy Thank you! Any particular reason why?
@TrainingHandsAcademyКүн бұрын
@@livingincentraliowa I like to remove the drywall and get it away from the window because of moisture reasons. Drywall has a paper face and loves to grow mold. If you put wood over it, you are essentially trapping moisture. I also like to remove the drywall so that I foam the gap around the window and the studs... stopping air and moisture from coming through.

The only problem I ran into was the asphalt in the parking lot is uneven from one stringer to the other but I can block up one side and put some cold patch around the base. I'll only get better the more I do it. Thanks again!

I was wondering if you have a video showing the use of the router to work the inside edges. I have a frame that has beveled edges on the inside and I want to take them off so it’s just a straight edge down (a 90-degree angle vs. beveled).

I'm sorry I don't on KZfaq, just in my router course on my website. Using the router will be the same on the inside only your direction will change. You can always email me if you have more questions. [email protected]

I’m am just learning about woodworking and your videos are the best! I was wondering about flattening the surface of a wood slab that was cut with a chainsaw. I have one (24ish x 36ish”) and want to make it a tabletop but not sure about the best way to do it. I was going to use my orbital sander but was told to use my router. Suggestions?
@TrainingHandsAcademy6 күн бұрын
The router works great. I don't have a video on that but look up what a router sled (slab) jig is. There are also local woodworking shops that will flatten slabs.

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Very helpful and instructional. I had always used traditional hand saws as a means of burning some extra calories every time I had some sawing to do. doesn't the joist hanger trick bring the whole load onto like two rings of grain? I feel like the wrong board would split between that cut and the bottom of the first kick if the load was too high

Yes you are right, that could happen. They have updated hangers made specifically for that so I would recommend using those.

I still haven't tried my saw because I'm not yet comfortable enough. I'm going to be extra cautious since it appears that I purchased a left side blade saw. :::sigh::: Oh, well, live and learn! Not really. It would be best with a flat top grind blade, because it will leave the cut square at the bottom. However, any blade for the most part would work. Hope that helps.

Hi I have a squeaky staircase without having access from the bottom. I am trying to drill some screws into the tread to hit the riser so I can fix them together since the wood dried and now there is friction between them and that is where the sounds comes from. Can you tell mee how to measure so I hit the riser based on the situation above ?
@TrainingHandsAcademy8 күн бұрын
You might be able to see nail holes in the risers which will tell you where the framing is. You might even have to drive some nails in the riser to find their location and then repaint the risers when you are done.
