Countries are made up on myths and legends from King Arther to Robin Hood Whitby Abbey and long may we have them. Some are for the good and some are not but they are our heritage. If snivelling MPs and muslim idiots cannot see that i suggest the pack their bags and get the hell no more mister nice guy and here is a thousand you get nothing we have no reason to give you anything bar a swift kick up the rear on the way out.

great conversation. Thanks so much for sharing. There is certainly an upserge in young people returning to Christian ways of living. 36 years old here in Houston Texas, and I see it all over in the "counter culture". And as was mentioned here, it is sort of a counter cultural movement itself now to return to these ways of wisdom and faith that Jeshua paved many many years ago. One of my favorite scenes that is helping this resurgence is the Rastafari movement and reggae culture in general. Artists like Mike Love, Groundation, Clinton Fearon, and so many more are leading us towards the way of Christ.

Cities are a big part of the problem, I'm a Celt our centres are groves, they serve as gathering place for everything education, celebration, communion, they are in nature. Many of our problems stem from nature deficiency syndrome.

We are so addicted to our stories especially the religious ones, we can recognise truth without the stories, it's the story's which are all beautiful but the truth is felt. Be nice if everyone could drop the cultural baggage, yup one higher consciousness, we're all here for a reason, should not kill, bla bla, love thy neighbour be nice, everyone born n stays equal. Gotta stop this fighting, debating the small stuff N collectively nail down and actualise some of the big stuff. Not like we've not got a tun of cleaning up to do, we're seriously wasting time people.

@ approx. 1 hr 5 min mark, Dr. Ross refers to a hymn that shares the idea that Believers are just passing through this world on war to God's heavenly realm, is likely referring to the hymn with lyrics, "This world is not my home, I'm just passing through, my treasures are laid up, somewhere beyond the blue. . ."

I believe Dr. Ross is referring to the Book "Eternity in their Hearts" by Don Richardson. He states that phrase of the title, but didn't quite share the reference.

@27 minute time mark, approx., Dr. Ross speaks of having written a paper on finding evidence of life on our solar system planet. Is there a link or name reference for that paper? Was that paper published in a scientific journal or publication? - What publication? What was the year? I'm watching this video in 2024, Ross says "a few years ago" he wrote the paper, so does it date before 2021? This is remarkable science claim, let alone coming from a Christian evangelist and apologist, who happens to have advanced degree in astrophysics!

I really enjoyed hearing the story about the school project to write about abstract art. It was a fascinating idea and as someone who generally isn't a fan of that style of art I could sympathise with the student. I think I was try to use this technique of clearing my mind of ideas about the artwork when viewing pieces like this in future to see if something speaks to me. Hopefully it doesn't require such a long process on my side though!

I created a More Christ recommended reading list on Amazon a few months ago, as many of the same books pop up. Unfortunately, it's already taking hours to edit videos, etc so I don't have time to make lists like that for each episode.

I went back to this, as I’m in the middle of his book right now. The ending of the podcast was indeed particularly powerful. I am inspired to try to get my students to use stories we read in a conversation, like he did with his children-as a way of showing mastery of the texts. Also, would love to see you do a CS Lewis school in Ireland. Apparently there are Chesterton schools in America. And thanks again to your guest for his book! I highlighted a bunch today, that I could use in the classroom, most notably the map vs the landscape idea under “the purpose of literature” section. - Jeff

Very interesting guest and great interview. It was an insightful point about dance being left behind by the church. Dancehalls and nightclubs carry so much religious symbolism and are a great way to commune but the church seems to have given that space over to secularism. I also like the idea that Love can be explored through Soul music. Given God can be expressed as love it's nice to think listening to my Stax records I'm actually doing some theology homework. I hadn't even thought about the name "Soul" music much before but if course it carries such obvious religious connotations.

Amen, brother! Steve Turner from England has done lots of good work on this. I recently read his book on Johnny Cash, but he also has books on figures like Marvin Gaye and The Beatles, and even a lovely illustrated one on Gospel music, which I own. The Christian philosopher Douglas Groothuis has understood Jazz in a similar fashion - describing himself as a kind of 'chaplain' of his local jazz club. To borrow from The Blues Brothers, 'We're on a mission from God.' Everybody needs somebody to love!
